The state of this forum

Why is it that every thread in this forum seems to turn into a slanging match between the posters? People just seem to want to bleat and whine at each other and look better than the other posters. Nobody is putting forward actual facts in an informative way. Nobody is suggesting legitimate solutions to the topics. Can somebody please tell me why that is?

Stagnant?

We recently had a wonderful bun fight, er...discussion, about the proposed name change of the borough, which is still on going.

Maybe there was a lot of time passed in your relationship with your daughter. How are we supposed to know why you have spent the last week slagging each other off and airing your constant family war in public ?

When you've been in the same predicament then maybe you will have some of the experience and intelligence to understand. Until then may I ask that you keep your nose out. My daughter and I have taken our private business elsewhere and are getting on just fine thankyou bery much!

No, she got a bad rep for being bitchy when there was no real reason. I asked a Q and she went off on one. She then went off slagging people off. THAT is teh reason she got neg karma(not off me BTW)

I'm pleased to hear you and your daughter are getting on fine. You have no idea how much experience of various predicaments I have, I may even have a slight knowledge of realtionship splits with children involved. I do have to agree with your comments about lack of intelligence though. Apprarently according to one of the local students nobody in Accrington has any intelligence so I moved here :D

LMAO That was witty, intelligent and what should be happening in the forums. Maybe a little less sarcasm would have been more appropriate though.

And you still insist on running off topic. If you don't like the thread you always have the opportunity to discuss another one somewhere else. I think you have to admit that you get a kick out of running down new members and younger posters that you don't agree with. If you didn't you wouldn't keep following me around!

Two members of the forum asked two serious sensible questions of the person who was selling the laptop but instead of a serious and sensible reply all they received was a sarcastic response from the seller. When this was subsequently commented on the seller then assumed the role of victim.

Why do some new members set out to annoy those who have been here for years?

More than one person wondered if the sale was in fact purely a wind up simply posted to create a bit of aggro and then sit back and watch it all happen. I agree Ian it did sound a bit like something we've seen previously didn't it?

I came across this site a year or so back. I've been an exile from the Accrington area for longer than many members have been alive but I started posting and I found it great. The majority of people who post here are good humoured, intelligent and witty. The odd ones who aren't are not worth the bother of an argument.

Probably because there are no such things as "facts", and if there are any solutions to anything they are probably illigitimate.

WillowTheWhisp 17-06-2007 21:28

Re: The state of this forum

Discussions don't necessarily have to have solutions. Most of the threads are discussions and chats about subjects which interest the members. 99% of the members can have those discussions and even disagree on topics without really falling out with each other. Sometimes we agree on one subject and then disagree with the same person on another subject.

Then every so often someone comes along, gets on their high horse and before you know it the words mountain and molehill come to mind.

Funnily enough everyone in the forum has been in accy a decent amount of time, this forum is just one little social group in accy that don't bother to disagree for fear of upsetting their friends so they brown nose everything they say to keep eachother happy.

If I said something against your best friends opinion, you are going to agree with them even if you prefer my opinion. I may be 18, but I know sheep when I see them.

We don't all agree with each other all the time. Surely you can see that. Quite often we have different opinions but that doesn't stop us respecting each other's opinions. As I said in another post sometimes we disagree with each other on a subject but then we may agree with that same person on an entirely different subject. That's how adult discussions work. Sometimes during the course of such discussions we may even find that we change our opinions if someone points out something we hadn't thought of. BTW some of the most adult discussions I've had on here have been with teenagers who don't resort to name calling and trolling.

Having read through this thread I am astouded!

Accy Mafia my left butt cheek!

Sucking up among each other as they are friends cow pats!

Bitching my right butt cheek!

I have been here nearly 2 years and even seen friends have dingdongs but thats on here and shouldnt be taken with any offence. If people get stroppy ove something legit then others will be stroppy back. Last time something like this erupted I let rip because it could have spoiled something else. If there are private problems between members then take them away from the thread and let rip over that in PM's and when its sorted people can come back on get on with things as per normal

Anyone wanting to join and seeing the mention of Accy mafia, cliques, persistant bitching etc are going to be put off joining so we are all loosing out. Please lets keep the humour the inteligent conversations inuendo etc and do away with the nastiness stroppiness and bitching please. It is still a site for all and thats what makes it what it is.

I am not saying we will all get on but at least show respect for other members and leave them out because if you drag them in they will hold there own and it will be on the same lines.

I see you are still singling out single people to criticise and call names. You just called me a "miserable sod". Does that mean that you won't cry and whinge if I call you an idiot for not getting the point?

I gave you all the opportunity to have a personal attack at me in a thread specifically for the task and yet you all still seem to want to drag your own forum down! Other new members see these threads full of personal attacks and I'm sure that, at least some of them will think twice about joining accyweb. The funny thing is that even when you all got a place to insult me and keep ON topic there were relatively few that actually bothered. Those that did were pretty lame about doing so too. Continue to fight each other and watch as you destroy the forum for yourselves.

Why should I let idiots run me off. If they want to run off at the mouth in my direction they are quite entitled to. You idiots are wrecking your own forum by tearing my posts apart and keeping my topics to personal attacks on me. You are too stupid to see that. Have you not seen "The bash each other thread"?

Make your mind up, is everyone fighting each other or singling people out ?

When you extract your head from up your backside I think you will find trolls come and go on here but the forum continues to keep going. Newbies join on a regular basis and it's only those who CHOOSE to stir things up and spit the dummy out who then start complaining of the way it exists.

Then why did you mainly quote the whole post to mainly agree with? Why didn't you mainly edit out the part you were mainly not referring to?

You make my point very well. You start with a reasonable question then, make a PERSONAL attack! The answer to your question is that people are doing BOTH. My head isn't up my backside but where is yours?

I'm not a stress head I just don't see why the members here have to keep making personal comments.

Show me one single thread where I started it? You can't!!!! If people could then they WOULD. Instead they throw unfounded accusations and slurs. If you can't stand the heat don't throw petrol bombs! You can't blame a person for retalliation, it's a natural reaction.
