Re: Sign the pledge.

I have more or less stayed off the forum for the last few days, just dipping in to read but rarely posting.

Somehow this has all got out of hand.

Some people have been posting (they may or not be on their second or third account name) and some people have been winding them up. The first someones have then got defensive and it's all kicked off and some people got caught in the cross fire.

I'm not pointing blame at anyone but every one who has risen to it has contributed to the downward slide of this forum. Whether you've been defending your case or adding smilies to make it appear as though you're sharing the joke, you've still played a part in it.

It has to stop!

I just received a pm from someone who is apparently now banned, and because I'm now ignoring Trolls I can't see it, so don't know if it is threatening or abusive.

I'll post it here to see if anyone else can tell me.

'I thought you didn't care arse wipe? Love you too. Gonna make it a point to read all of your posts I can.'

I disagree. If someone is posting right wing fascist clap trap, as well as generally abusing other members, it must be challenged.

Challenge them, yes, but not deliberately goad them and encourage them to post more rubbish.

Re: Sign the pledge.

I’m not sure about all this. I can see many of the arguments and I have little doubt that some of our friends on here have been insulted or left feeling dishearten or disgusted at some of the alleged comments, I say alleged because I didn’t read the posts concerned.

However, I feel that Gayle has a valid point, further to that point it is 2007 and we live in a world of Human Rights “for Some” Freedom of Information and Freedom of speech “allegedly”.

My point is what are we actually doing here? Are bullying these so called Trolls and possibly others, isolating them? Treating them less favourably than others or better?

If these people have caused offence, taken to making personal insults or deliberately undermining basic freedoms then it’s a matter for the Moderators to act in the best interest of the forum and its members, it’s not for a few of us the decide to dictate their fate. This is a personal opinion

I'm no one's saviour. I just care when a small minority of people try to wreck this forum for the rest.

End of.

Your flipancy doesn't become your status on Accy Web.
