It does seem strange that it isn't means tested. I'm sure 99% of my fellow fee paying school mates didn't need it either, yet we were all entitled to it.

I was always suprised that Mrs Thatcher stopped free school milk, yet allowed this benefit for all to continue.


The point I was trying to make was that not all children actually need Child Benefit. I'd rather it be taken off those who don't actually rely on it, which a lot of parents don't, and target it at those children who actually do.

Get the higher amount for the first born, and the lower amount for the second born,

yes when you have twins the oldest one get the most ; when you go and get there birth certificate ; they put the times they were born in the corner;

I thought that they time of birth went on al birth certificates now, didnt realise theirs were any different

they mite do now ; my twins are 13 now ; they didn;t put the time on my other childrens certificates; just the twins

I havent any others so I dont know lol mine are only 20 months and the times are on theirs
