Baby name help!

Well as some of you mite know im having a girl, wohoooooooo!!!! lol
The thing is that now we seem to have a problem about her name, i chose Maddison since i knew i was pregnant(dont know why just loved it), but my partner now dont like the name, he says it sounds like a butchs name (if you know what i mean).
The thing is my son is named after him and i will love to name my daughter Maddison, so, what shall i do?, should i choose a different name with him or should i stick to my guns?
Help!!

your parents gave you a great name which will last , 60 year old 'grandma Yolanda' sounds good , a 60 year old grandma Chardonnay sounds and also tastes bad Yolanda - Origin and Meaning of the name Yolanda at BabyNames.com,
so please show the same respect as your parents , give her a name which will stand her thru time , think you should give her at least one name from the Bible ....... if she's a little 'fire-cracker" Barbara works well....the patron saint of explosives
just an opinion , but for you and your partner to decide

I alreay had names sorted before I fell pregnant (as you do........) always said that if I had a boy it would be either wesley or logan (and my 1st born is called Wesley - ste chose jacks name otherwise he'd have been called Logan) and if I had girls I liked Jessica, Olivia and Mckenzie

Think, maybe, Steeljack that in 60 years time, there will be lots of strangely named pensioners, so don't think will be an issue, although understand your thoughts in this year of 2008.
Will get shortened to Maddie though irrespective of how much effort is made not to.

I think it's nice when you give a name that someone in your family has.

Have none of your grandmother's got wonderful Spanish names you could use?

Its a matter of personal choice though.

I know if i had kids if it was a girl i would call her Sarah Elizabeth - and call her lily on a day to day basis ...

But its up to you and your partner what you want to call her how about you calling her maddison and he comes up with another name and then you can argue which comes first. Because if he comes up with a name - it might sound better as .... maddison rather than maddison ...... Just an idea.
