Accywebs very own remake of on the buses!

It’s been a while since we let our Thespian talents loose on the web so I am putting forward a list of potential cast members and will be needing all of you to assist with the main plot.

The following list of cast members is only a suggestion anybody that has a far more apt member of the site to take on any of these roles or indeed that wishes to volunteer for any of the parts suggested, (or create your own), feel free to enter your comments.

Stan (The Bus Driver) -Less, (I believe suitable for the role of ‘Mr. Jobsworth’).

Jack (Conductor)-Rindy, (yes, I know, type casting, but we need a ‘bird puller’).

Mum (of Stan)-Margaret Rothwell, (She’d keep Stan in line).

Olive-Blazey, (maybe she doesn’t look the part but she would act it so naturally).

Arthur- Neil, (Never really has much to do but useful for the one-liners).

Clippies-Slinks, shillelagh, Mez, Bernadette, (anyone that looks good in a uniform really).

Irate passenger-Mick, (if for no other reason than, because I’m easily bribed).

Little Old lady-grannyclaret, (famous on stage and screen for her one woman show, White Rabbits).

Various bit parts can be handed out as we go along.

Mick just called around to borrow a cup of memory chips and leaning over my shoulder has pointed out that I’ve missed out a main character and of course he is right.

I was leaving this one until I could perhaps get a little inspiration, it is a crucial part and requires someone that can not only tolerate being the butt of most of the cast’s jokes but also, at the same time project the image of a blustering bear with a sore head!

Nope, I’ve racked my brains, tried my best, even Mick is looking a little blank, (“nothing new there”, I here you cry!).

So I’ll leave it up to the rest of you, Who could we possibly get to play…..

Blakey-(The Bus Inspector)?

So it’s on with your thinking caps, come on everybody let’s get the show on the road.

I've just been to the Knacker's Yard to get a pair of teeth.

I've got them in now, and feel I'm really getting to know the character.:D

Surely there's no one as objectionable and rude on AW, to play Blakey?

Obsessive, rude, inferiority complex, a touch of the little Hitler complex about them?

I'm well and truly stumped.

Shame Hatter isn't about much these days ( and that is one line I thought I would never ever say ) BUT I do think he would have played this part well :D

I nominate Less for that part.

Just in case anyone wants reminding of the original cast.

From seeing Blazey's photograph her hair seems just about right for Olive.:D

I diid I did, but your miscast as Stan, you could only play Blakey.

Who votes for Less as Blakey.

I think Jambutty would be my choice for Blakey....he seems such a carmudgeonly character....Jambutty that is, not Blakey.

Less, I will be a clippie too (well if they are single decker buses - my knees don't like stairs too much these days).

Retlaw 25-05-2008 13:23

Re: Accywebs very own remake of on the buses!

Don't fret Margaret, if they put you on a double decker, hang your coat over the bottom of the stairs, and when Blakey (Less) gets on you can always swear its a single decker.

No............He's a wanabee for another job.

Falling about laughing at the other two's comments.
LD............about as witty as milk turning sour.
The big G...The most ignorant, arrogant 'Personality' on AW by a long way.
Sorry Retlaw..........if you had have asked to vote for the Three Stooges or Snow White the Dwarf and the Dingle,I may have taken part.

I would have seen him more in an incidental role, the 'bit' player that stands at a bus stop with his hand out only to be drenched by a large puddle of water as Stan ignores him and drives straight past.
He's that bloke that is seen in every sitcom, everyone recognises him but no-one can remember his name!

Im going to admit something which is very dangerous here - when i worked down in the bus shed the drivers gave me a nickname ..... mainly because of the glasses i wore and being sent out on the buses to bug them from time to time :D

Mind you hated being a clippie when i did that one day ....

Can i wear trousers as being the clippie please less? I learned my lesson for wearing a skirt and going out on the buses .....

What a brilliant idea, the answer was staring us in the face all day and none of us even gave it a thought!

It's up to you to persuade him though, he failed the first audition and you know how it is with these butch types, once they throw a hissy fit heaven and earth has to be moved to placate them!

Still with you in charge of the casting couch.........;)

I think I'm justified getting worried about you.
Youv'e made reference to, Lovie..Sweetie....then Butch Types.
Throwing hissie fits to move heaven and earth.
That's the roll of Snow White covered.....Oh dear...I think your making a pass at the wrong 'Sweetie' :gooddog:

Am affronted that I have not been nominated for one of these leading roles, however, will consider a star appearance (not bit part Hummph!) as in there subsequent films:-

Driver .. Pat Coombs.
Nurse .... Kate Williams.

Please refer to my agent (Mick ... :D) to negotiate terms.

Otherwise, may consider being Director, as you obviously will have no idea of positioning.... :D

Who?

Oh, is he still here?

I'd have thought he'd have found another site to post about Mrs. Meldrew bouncing cheques, then getting all grumpy when everyone gave useful advice so it didn't happen again.

Perhaps it's just everything else that is better abroad...just not internet forums.;)

I also think the production company for this new On the Buses would struggle getting insurance for someone of such advanced years. I read recently it's a problem for them on Last of the Summer Wine.

This is the big G folks.....Challenging for the position of Snow White.
Arrogant...Ignorant....Headline chasing moron...I could think of a few more
stronger words I could use but I will refrain.
I wonder how many people would accept their wife being called Mrs Meldrew............That's the arrogant bit.
My wife had a cheque returned for the sake of 30p....He still thows this in two years or more after the event......That's the ignorant bit.
I think the headline chasing bit is self evident.
I go to my bed in the knowledge that my insurance is paid up even at my age............I think his comment about that is arrogant and ignorant.

I am quite flattered to be picked as one of the characters, though I would have preferred to have been Blakey! He's my favourite. I'm a MASSIVE on the buses fan lol, as embarrassing as that is for a girl my age, so I don't care if I am only good enough to be Olive. They're all legendary characters.

Unwanted advice........do you give any and what is your experience?
Enjoy yourselves doing what?.............Coming back with stupid comments on what other members dare to comment on, or give their opinion on a subject that only Less has knowledge of.....very limited in the extreme I would have thought.
Get real Leslie baby if that is your name....go and have a drink with the Ossy bombshell and plan your next method of attack.

Well I've read and re-read this post and I have decided the only reply it requires is,

I am sorry, very, very sorry, for all the things I said about you in the past,

Why? because you fail even to reach those standards and for that I pity you and will treat you with much more care in future, because you just can't help being the poor miserable soul that you are!

Now feel free to continue ranting in this thread, it has kept your inane views away from other threads for most of the day so it must have been good for the site!
:alright:

It's a very forgiving site, I'm sure the mods will make allowances for your lack of intellect and vocabulary!

Well I don't wanna be in it anyway - so there, Less, sucks-boo to you. :dummy2:

I want to do "Upstairs Downstairs". I, of course, will be Lady Marjorie (Oh hell, she went down with the Titanic didn't she?) and Cashman will be Mr Bellamy. Any offers for Mrs Bridges and Mr Hudson? ;)

Can I be Mrs. Bridges?

...and I don't date anyone over sixty five who hasn't been in a recent edition of the Tatler, or at the very least Hello.:D

Wait until he starts posting about your hair, after pouring over your photographs for hours in the gallery, that's really weird.

It's always the poor wife who must feel most neglected, when these obsessions kick in. All that wasted time, a shame really.

Love the Upstairs, Downstairs idea. :)

I loved Ruby best, and would make an honest, hardworking scrubber.:D

Re: Accywebs very own remake of on the buses!

You could be right there, Willow. Any candidates for Rose? Bear in mind she (Jean Marsh) wrote most of the damned thing. :D

Cashman - Mr Bellamy is only the master of the house - the patriarch - the one who supplies the wherewithall to keep the household going (though Lady Marjorie's fortune has helped a bit). He's very important to the plot, becomes an MP (I'm afraid he's a Tory), and keeps going long after Lady M has succumbed to that iceberg. :)

Well there was the son, James, who did the usual spoiled son thing and got one of the maids pregnant then reacted as though it had been a gun that he didn't know was loaded. I think they sent him to Australia (or somewhere) once they'd paid her off. Would you rather be him? You will have to compete with the once-gorgeous Simon Williams of course.
