I think what you propose is really interesting though. My University Union had a 'No Platform' policy, which expired this year, and the executive decided not to keep it. Essentially what it did was removed the right of the BNP, Hizb ut-Tahrir and some other extreme political organisations from speaking, leafleting and existing within the union building.

There were lots of arguments put up on both sides, and I think it would make a really interesting thread in general chat if you wanted to start it. :)

I've already started a thread here thanks.

I will await the time when someone does post such a link and how you will deal with it and the inevitable flak that will come with it.

As I say, do you think its right to have my personal blog linked?

I'll allow you to debate that one with your conscience at the moment I'm discussing your signature and the fact that the site should at least appear unbiased.

Or perhaps you could add something such as:-

Other Political Parties are available

and put a link in for them.;)

I certainly won't be hand holding to peoples political beliefs, I'm not the BBC. :P

I own both sites, and both are just a series of opinions. Is it just the title that bothers you? :D

I would say the same if it was Labour or the Liberals please leave accyweb alone, you have your beliefs others have theirs let's try our best to keep accyweb neutral ground!
I think that should give you a clue as to what I think, if you don't agree fair enough but, just remember this could come back on you sometime in the future when you have to deal with someone that puts a link in and then objects when you remove it.

Re: Isn't this a bit of a no, no?

I wasn't referring to if you cared that 'Conservative' was in the title. I meant both links in my sig contain political material so I am just wondering why it is one rather than the other that you are concerned about.

I chose the one I mentioned, if you think the blog is just as bad then maybe you should remove both so that you can attempt to be neutral.

I will always be neutral if I had to moderate anything. The more experienced moderators would have me hung drawn and quartered if not. :p

I can see Less's point, and think it very valid.

What would happen if a member linked an extremist website to their signature? It doesn't really matter if they own the site, or if it's someone elses.

There must be some rules, otherwise the system will be too open to abuse.

Perhaps the blog link could be kept on a member's profile page, as long as the rules about reciprocation are followed?

I think it is terrible to link to a site in your sig without there being a link back ;)

All reasonably minded people may object to such a link but how could that be removed if in all fairness a link to other political sites is allowed?
:o

after much thought, i come down on the Less side of this.we all got political or religious views, which are argued/ discussed on here, but radical political views could be linked on here if this remained, its a problem that is NOT needed.

K-P I agree but extracting the urine of a moderator is something that should be looked at.
Does Andrewb have to ask permission?
If you are testing him then go for it.
I don't think Mick would tolerate this behavour.
An extemist website...I don't think so.
Supporters are one thing.....bigots are quite something else. :)
