With our contretemps thus engaged, the rest of us may enjoy ourselves elsewhere upon the forums pages, occasionally peeking in anon to ascertain the level of animosity & verbosity of the invective being used, or whether one or t'other has slunk away to sulk & pout most delinquently. :p

Dave... which dictionary and whose thesaurus did you have for Sunday dinner?;)

For starters a light crispy entree of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary, the main & as such the meat of the meal, Oxford thesaurus of English & Dessert lightly whipped & fluffy, Oxford English reference Dictionary.

I am not averse to words & as such feast & devour regularly such dainties, for a man without words & the artifice & wherewithal to use them is no man, he that must seek recourse in base insults & belittlement, denigrates but himself.

Failing that, a swift thump along the lughole conveys a plethora of words especially if you hit 'em with a big enough Dictionary ! :)

I think you might like the Etymologicon for your next read then.

What the flipin eck is that?

The Etymologicon is a circular stroll though words that you thought you knew the roots of. You might be surprised to find that you don't know much of their history at all.

It is a very entertaining read and gave me quite a few belly laughs. I can recommend it if you like obscure facts.
Etymology is the study of the history of words.

It might be good to look at the origin of bitchin' or back biting (just to keep the thread on track).

Ooooh, I wish I'd read this thread before I'd tried fawning in the grand national thread, I know she no longer believes in the site, shame that I took time to be polite over there, cos it will mean as much to her as this does to me, (unfortunatly).
:(

No names, no pack drill, but thank you anyway. :)

Some people are nasty to almost everybody.

When you get an earful from them, at least you get unspoken sympathy from the folk who got it before you.

I suppose it is a symptom of resentment that they have had a raw deal in life.

There is a 'law of rebound' - what you put out, you get back - magnified!

I was going to contribute to this thread but having read all posts, I haven't a clue whats going on, I know when I am outclassed. I will just sit back and read the posts whilst I do a bit of whittling.

Simply put, for those of you in a quandary, the initial idea was for all those bitching & name calling to do it here, trade their juvenile insults & save space on other threads where the majority want to discuss & debate a topic without the interference caused by petty squabbles.

Admittedly that may not of been clear from the preceding posts, as those commenting thus far had not the inclination or spitefulness to debauch into inane & inconsequential name calling.

Hopefully this helps. :)
