People who smell horrible?

sorry for unpleasant topic!

I'm writing a blog about this at the moment but thought I'd ask here as well.

I've encountered a fair few people who seem to think it's okay to not wash-is it just me?

Perhaps it's something deeper than personal hygiene even-Basically people whose general odour is unpleasant.

Some are just folk I run into, but some have been people I've known quite well!

I don't mean just sweatiness after exercise of exertion-I mean folk who have let themselves get to smell more unpleasant than that.

The question is, if you had a friend who smelt horrible, would you tell them?Or hint?

I guess I would want to know if it was me!

But then , I often wonder why someone lets themselves smell? Is it just laziness? I tend to think if one keeps oneself clean and wears clean clothes, that's enough-it's not difficult is it?

I don't judge the infirm/sick or those who are homeless etc, and I don't hang out with a bunch of generally inept low-lives, either-there are some well educated well brought up people I've met, who have this issue and it's something that confuses me.

Missus was sat behind a dirty smelly pig on bus from Blackburn yesterday was knocking her sick, if twas someone i knew, then i would certainly tell em, but thats the way i am, know fer fact, many couldn't do that. I think of meself as reasonably honest n straightforward, others may well call me names fer it, but i don't really give a toss.

How would you tell them lol. One friend of mine I toyed with the idea of sending her an anonymous card ! I never did though and she's moved away now.

Or would you just grab them and say 'Er dude, you stink'?!:D

i think a lot of how people smell may have something to do with what they eat aswell, in a past life i worked in quite a few nursing and residential homes, one of the ladies we looked after was bathed everyday, sometimes twice a day, but still had a strange odour about her, her daughter insisted she was to take garlic capsules everyday, that was the smell that came out of her, it didn't smell like garlic, it was really rather unpleasant.

I always carry a bottle of impulse in my bag, before now i have been known to spray it in the direction of offending smells if i came across any whilst traveling, soap and deodorant cost pennies, for goodness sake people, please go out and buy some

I agree with Flashy - smelly sweat is mainly due to what is eaten.

Sweating is a way of ridding the body of toxic waste. Reduce the toxic food intake and you reduce the smell.

I don't agree that using chemicals to mask a smell is a good idea.
By absorption, those chemicals end up inside you and increase your body load of toxins.

PS Natural soap and deodorants are available if you take the trouble to find out what is in the ingredients

Re: People who smell horrible?

We go by bus to Bury every nearly every Saturday......there is a chap who gets on the bus near Gaskells underlay factory. He is a man in his late forties/early fifties......he really stinks.
He looks unkempt with greasy looking hair and jacket.
No-one tells him, but people do move away from him.

Last week he came and sat in the seat right in front of us...himself got up and loudly said I'm not sitting here with that smelly fellow(or words to that effect with some expletives in).......and we both moved to the front of the bus.
I do not know how this man cannot be aware that he reeks, because this happens every week(though most people do not make loud comments about the reason they are moving).
I have even seen ladies using body sprays to freshen the air around themselves.
Me......well, I have a compact of solid perfume in my bag for such eventualities.....a little of this smeared under my nose, and I can't smell him at all.

Most 'perfume' is just as obnoxious as sweat smell.

I recall having a bus day trip to the coast ruined by a woman who had drowned herself in cheap perfume.

My headache and nausea lasted all day.

Well, Margaret...mine isn't cheap...and I do not bath in it......tend to wear it less frequently, but needs must if you have a smelly chap in front of you.
When I was nursing I used to always have a small jar of Vicks in my bag and I used to use this for the same purpose.

Give me cheap perfume over BO anyday. I know there are lots of reasons alongside honest toil, medication or food eaten. BUT there's no excuse for not using good old soap and water not only on yourself but also your clothing.
Pals of mine are fishmongers and other than if they call in for a swift half after work you wouldn't know. ;)

I have face masks with a built in carbon filter for use when I mingle with the smelly public.

One effect of reducing intake of toxins is that I have an enhanced sense of smell.

I don't fancy travelling on public transport wearing a face mask...heck people might think it is ME that is contagious

Which seems to confirm my theory that toxic loaded bodies have an impaired sense of smell.
