A tough Sudoku

I've pinched this out of a puzzle book that I got so I do have the answers. I found it really hard and haven't actually completed it. No doubt some of you can do better - let's see how long it takes the experts.

Re: A tough Sudoku

You're quite right. One of those twos should be a six. Go back and download the attachment again and it should be right now.

Re: A tough Sudoku

That's nothing like the answer that it gives in the back of the book so I reckon there must be two possible solutions to this because I can't find a flaw with your answer.

That's probably why I was struggling - did you have to make a guess at one point?

Re: A tough Sudoku

Here's another one taken from the same book. I couldn't finish this one and I think it's like the first one - has a couple of possible solutions. See how you get on.

Re: A tough Sudoku

I've just tried the first one by normal logical deduction process and it won't work because there are not enough numbers in, so it must have more than one solution.

I've come across some where a couple of numbers are interchangeable but this one seems to have so many variable possibilities.

You're not supposed to make wild guesses at sudoku.

Re: A tough Sudoku

No, that's what I thought. I got it from a book and I checked carefully that I'd copied all the numbers down for you. It's definitely a flaw in the original puzzle.

Re: A tough Sudoku

Make a guess? thats an understatement when I started that one, getting the first dozen or so numbers was awful, made it a lot harder though doing it in word as you cant scrible the possibles down so you just try to remember them, there was quite a few points where i sort of guessed though

Re: A tough Sudoku

Just done the last one, was just as hard as well, not doing any more for a while its doing my head in!! I hope these aren't prize ones and your getting us to do the hard work for you, I want a cut if you win anything

Doing puzzles should be relaxing, these stress you to the limits, I think I'll get a petition going to get them banned on health grounds

Re: A tough Sudoku

Actually, that's an idea. Next time I see one that offers a prize I'll put it on here and wait for someone else to solve it.

But no, these weren't! They were just taken from a book of sudoku and I think they were a bit faulty.
