Re: Flu Jab

We have this discussion every year .. just hope some of the inane and uneducated comments don't put people, in vulnerable positions, off from what could be a life-saving jab. ..

Kate, Jaysay would fall into the category of vulnerbale...wouldn't he? But he has found to his cost, that the flu jab doesn't do for him........as it doesn't for my husband.
I know the benefits(and the pitfalls) of the flu jab.......and what Flashy asked was our opinions.

Sometimes it is better to take common sense precautions than take the jab.......ah Yes, but then, common sense isn't that common anymore is it?

There is actually quite a divide about the flue jab in medical circles, I had a discussion with the SHO on E3 back in 94 when I was admitted only days after having the jab, I said I wasn't having it again and she agreed, saying it doesn't do for everybody

Re: Flu Jab

When I was working there were quite a few of the Docs wouldn't have the jab, despite being on the frontline of medical services, therefore at 'risk'.
The point I was trying to make, was that we are all adult enough to look at the pros and cons, then make an informed decision.
I dislike the idea that one size fits all in medicine......like anything else medical, it has its drawbacks, these have to be considered sensibly.

Re: Flu Jab

This years winter flu vaccine has an added extra -
...the swine flu vaccine that many people decided not to have.

I have declined the offer of a free injection of mercury

If these vulnerable people are influenced by the comments of others, they are effectivley allowing other people to make a decision for them.
