Making A Stand
During the early time of the day when most of you are tucked up safe & sound in your beds there is a guy that I've mentioned a few times in past threads.
Alex Lester
He has a wonderful sense of humour and sometimes when he's desperate he'll read out items I've sent to him.
He had called at a pub over the weekend and was treated very badly, £3.00 for a pint in a plastic glass, (further details about that can be found by trying his listen again feature on his web site, Yes, it is worth it).
As it was he decided he would make a stand against the lowering of service we all have to put up with and decided to protest.
The thing is it reminded me about another person that decided to 'make a stand' and below is a copy of what was read out to the nation, (cheers Alex).
Many, many years ago I worked for a tv rental company as an engineer and a very irate gentleman came in demanding immediate attention all the girls were busy so I asked if I could help.
He was very rude and between the swearing told me what he thought of the company and the service provided with regards to his faulty television.
I asked if I could see his rental card, this he waved violently under my nose and very apologetically I told him there was nothing I could do to help him.
Without waiting for an explanation he shouted that he was making a stand and would not move until he had the service he demands.
Again trying to be polite but by this time getting rather cheesed off with him I suggested he could take a seat because the manager would be back from lunch shortly, (a white lie he'd only gone 5 minutes earlier).
I led him through to our brew room and sat him down.
Eventually the manager turned up and I explained the situation,
He went followed by as many staff as possible into the back room,
Politely he asked the man for his card the man threw it and it landed on the floor, the manager then with a deadpan face said, "ah yes I can see why our engineer couldn't help if you'd allowed him he could easily have explained".
The man shouted, "what is there to explain?"
the manager told him, "this is radio rentals, you want Granada rentals, 3 shops down".
It was a joy watching the guy pick his card off the floor.
