Nori bricks in Japan ?

Have the TV playing in the background , the Military History channel playing a program about the history of the Japanese navy , one thing caught my attention was the mention of the Japanese Naval academy, being built as a copy of the Royal Navy College at Dartmouth .....seems the building was built using red bricks made in England , each brick was wrapped individually in paper for shipment ........ wonder if Nori Bricks were exported to Japan , know they were exported to the US for the Empire State building, wonder if there any company archives anywhere showing Nori's export markets and what public buildings they were used on .
anyone have any thoughts
Thanks

Re: Nori bricks in Japan ?

I worked for Gilbraith tankers and the other side of the Gilbraith firm carried a lot of Nori bricks. I know for a fact that hundreds of loads went to Liverpool or Birkenhead docks for shipment to far away countries but I don't know which. A friend of mine went many times with loads and I will try to establish where they were bound for.

Re: Nori bricks in Japan ?

A quick online research was fruitless - Nori is also the name of a type of edible seaweed in Japan which really messes up searches.

Re: Nori bricks in Japan ?

Any of you lot seen these retro mobile phones? You know the ones I mean, based on the originals from twenty-odd years ago, which were basically house brick size with buttons on. Maybe there is now a market for a Nori mobile. Just think, girls, you go down Accy town centre on a grim friday night and some yobbo staggers up and makes a comment about your fat bum and straight away you whip your Nori phone out your handbag and wack the buggar.

End of story.
