Don't know. But there is a similar box on the side of a house in Chester Street near the corner of Charter Street. I don't think it's a Victoria (VR) box, maybe a George VI (GR) or even Elizabeth (ER) box. I'll have to look nextime I'm over.

I thought all the "old" postboxes had been replaced with the ER ones. It certainly looks old enough.

In a stone wall?

The only VR box I know for definate is in the wall of the Stag at Church. There's one up Church Lane, but I'm not sure - I think that's a George V.

My guess is that's somewhere up Manchester or Whalley Rd.

Could this be at the end of Christ Church Street next door to the Park Inn Pub?

Post box

Hi Beermaster, it most certainly COULD NOT BE at the end of Christ Church Street. That is not a Victorian one!

Others guesses "cold" at the moment.

Dont know if there is a Victorian one at the corner of Knowlemere Street or not, but .. I might have a little walk and check it out. Do you know if its Victorian, or are you just guessing, cos if it is, its a different one than the one I have put up

Atarah, I walk past this every day on my way to mine and your place of work and I never noticed the VR, I even posted a couple of letters in it last Tuesday. It's my 9 year old daughter who gets the credit for the correct answer as she recognised straight away.

On my way to work this morning I noticed this postbox has been vandalized, the door has been removed. The funny thing is when I was on my way home the door is still missing but someone had actually posted a letter perhaps in a hurry and not noticed the missing door.
