just found this pic of rhyddings park in ossy with rhyddings street and union rd right at the back!
not changed much except for the chimneys in the background!

Well it's probably not more recent than mid 70s as the chimney is still up at the shopfitters factory at the bottom of rhyddings st.

Pickle factory? - No, stanhill spinning mill was off Blackburn Rd at west end

Fred Dibnah knocked it down if thats the one, filmed it too for a TV ad

Think you correct K.S.H. ... bin there few times... you ever been in a spinning factory ?... had a floor like a ballroom presume so fibres would not get caught in any nook and crannies, and also for the safety of the workers who had to follow the frames day in, day out.

Yeah, I think the really large chimney is the one at Stanhill Ring Mill, which was really more towards the West End than Stanhill.

Shocking how flower beds used to be so well stocked, compared with now.

Here's Stanhill Ring Mill's chimney being demolished in 1984. It was carried out by the late Fred Dibnah, and was filmed, and apparently used for an advert on television for a VW Sorocco.
