yucca plant

I have a yucca plant which is about 4ft tall. The problem is it bent over I have tried turning it so the sun will bring it back to straight but it's not working. I was wondering if anyone could tell if cutting some of the 'stem' off would kill it. at the moment the window is stopping it from falling over!

Re: yucca plant

Could you not use bamboo canes in the tub and tie the plant to them to try and keep it upright?

cutting it off at the base will , in my opinion, stop it from leaning over.

Cheers for that I will try the bamboo first if that doesn't work I will cut it, though I am a bit worried that I will kill it off by cutting it.

That's strange GC we had one that died at about 10 year old too but we took a baby shoot off it which has now grown to about 2ft in 2 year.

Re: yucca plant

I have propogated plenty of Yucca. Depends upon the present height.
Cut it down to 10 - 12 inches. It should develop several side buds.

The bend in your original plant cannot be trained out with a bamboo cane.

Just in case the cut-down version does not prosper (might take 6 months),
make use of the cut-off portion. Cut it into 4 inch sections and place each
horizontal in new potting compost just under the surface. Then you'll have
a lot of new plants to give away!?
