Right let me give you this tip FOR FREE!!!!!

When chopping your onions, burn a little tea light candle near to where you are dicing them, the candle burns all the fumes off the onion that make your eye's water.
And it works honest.:D There ya go, happy chopping

Got to try that one slinky as i peel slice and dice in water, but at least if done in water then lees chance of you hurting your eyes if you rub them if itchy.

i always cut the root off first, not the top ,,,then peel from there, and i always buy spanish onions rather than english...they seem to be the worst culprits

I dont know if I've dreamt this but I'm sure I was told that if you run your wrists under cold water before chopping them your eyes wont water, I have tried it and it worked but It didn't affect me that bad anyway, maybe I've made it up, let me know if you try it!

I don't know if I've dreamt this or not but I think someone told me to put a peg on my nose whilst chopping onions. I've never tried it so don't know if it works but it sounds sort of logical - all the tubes are connected in there aren't they?

Haven't chopped an onion in a long time. Buy fresh onions already chopped from Asda. Worth the extra money.

I can honestly say that chopping onions has never really affected my eyes that much. I do tend to chop them very quickly though.... Which might explain why I only have 4 fingers on my left hand..:D
