I suspect that you are laying it in a bathroom.
I have done this once (successfully)
I didn't glue it down
The way of making it easier, is to use the floorcovering that you lift up, as a template on the one you are putting down.(leave a 'seam allowance' as you would when dressmaking - and trim it when down)
Fitting round pedestals is tricky - you will need to cut it so that the join is behind the pedestal

ps fitting vinyl tiles is easier but they wont work well if the floor is uneven

Should be easier then because there are no 'curvy' shapes to fit it around.
I dont know why the men recommended glueing it :confused: - if the room is so big that it will have to go down in more than one piece, I would use double sided sticky tape at the join.

The rooms long and narrow so luckily no joins needed :D
