You should about having it looked at Shaz, pain in the butt to get to the quacks for you in this snow though. Good fun sledging back home though.

Rhonda hurt her eye (look at her facebook) last Thursday. Friday morning she could not see it was watering that bad. She has spent most of the time with a patch on it as even a draft was painful.

I always say, don't mess about when it comes to your eyes. We only have 2 and as she has found out, having 1 changes everything. I am only half as ugly as usual. Even walking outside is hard aas you can't judge distance and don't really feel safe.

Re: Sore Eye

If that all it is stop moaning you soft git :D:D

I was talking to a lad work about eyes. He said years ago someone sprayed isopropanol in his eye (must have been an idiot). Supposedly it makes your eye close up for about half an hour. He said he splashed some process water in it and went home.

Sounds like a stupid way to skive of work to me :D

If it just the lid, it is likely this
Blepharitis treatment
I had it once - soak a small piece of clean cloth in hot water and wipe the eyelid from the centre to the outside, several times a day.
.........and don't use mascara (which is likely where you got the infection from)

Re: Sore Eye

your probably right there Margaret, i use mascara quite a lot when i go out, also thought it might have been my nails, had them done a couple of weeks ago and they are acrylic and gel, i thought maybe they had irritated my eye, thanx

Re: Sore Eye

If it was mascara Shaz I would expect it would be both eyes. Eye infections are very contagious and you would easliy pass it from one to the other with the mascara brush

I starts with a blocked hair follicle.
The infection wouldn't have spread from one eye to the other if she was sensible and stopped using mascara when the infection started.

The best thing to do when you've got a sore eye is rub it with your elbow:rolleyes:

Re: Sore Eye

If it were me Flashy, I would not use any preparations at this stage ... just a warm/hottish water compress a few times a day. It should clear itself in a few days.

If it doesn't, may need some form of antibiotic .. just keep your eye on it (so to speak .. :D )

Better be safe too and throw out the eye make up you have been using over the last few days. Not necessarily this ... you will probably never know where it came from, after all, we used to get these when we were young children and didn't wear make-up then, however, infectious so probably passed on from our friends.

I often get blepharitis, and was advised to bathe my eyelids using boiled, cold water in which some bi-carb of soda has been disolved - about a teaspoon to a pint, which I keep in the fridge. It does work!

Yes, we always used Bi-carb for this purpose too Ossylass ... was told helps to "draw out the puss" ... but think just a good cleansing agent.

Re: Sore Eye

I only had that blepharitis once and notice that, since then, my eyelashes on that eye are shorter and point inwards towards my nose.:(
I think that increasing my intake of omega oils has warded off future re-occurances.
