You can't be too careful with childrens' health

I cant really fault nhs direct whom ive rung a few times as cant get assistance out of hrs, they have always aimed to do their level best n are very prompt

First time i had to ring them on Sunday had a stomach infection was absolutely racked with pain. Rang them at about 2pm had an appointment for 3.30pm was out within 30 mins with a course of antibiotics. Can't fault them superb job

Vorlon, we actually had our coats on to go to casualty, but as a last minute thought i rang the nhs to see if casualty was the right place to go as i know casualty is a very buzy place to be on a bank holiday weekend! Her face was not bothering her in the slightest, so it probably best to be waiting at home with a 5 year old than waiting for hours in casualty where she would have been bored to tears and i would have got very stressed trying to keep her from running riot around the hospital.
And like i said her face went down the next day so it wasnt really an emergency.

Never had any problems myself, suppose it takes people away from going to A+E for a bad cold at weekends.:mad:

4 weeks ago i was ill, been to the doctor got a script but couldnt keep the medication down, i was getting worse by the hour. wife came home from work to see me in so much pain i thought i was going to die, my head was in that much pain i can only describe as brainfreeze after eating icecream, head was swelling, face drooping on one side, coul'dnt open my eyes. Wife phoned NHS Direct and before she put the phone down you could hear the ambulace on its way for me. Got to the hospital oxigen levels low, i wasn't white, i was grey i was admitted but no beds where found, but after 4 hours they got me feeling a lot better. Anyway its not that long ago and i'v seen the specialist within a few days had a CT scan the same day, waiting list 4 usually months, seen the specialist again and now booked for an opperation next week. Thanx to the NHS direct and a fantastic work done by our pressured doctors and nurses at B.R.I.

Never had a problem with NHS DIRECT........and i have rang them a few times,doctors have been out to us or i have managed to get to the hospital with the young ones (when ill) without any hassles at all.
I cant fault this service!.(makes a change)

I'm not quite sure when it's appropriate to use NHS Direct. Would you use it in preference to phoning your own doctor's surgery?

I wouldn't of thought so Willow I think your supposed to use them outside of surgery hours. I have only had to use them once, I fell ill on a Saturday, they were great I can't fault them.

i have had to ring them a few times this year with the twins and thay kept me on the phone for ages every time i once rang them because one of the twins had brocililitas and thay just said its a sexual deseise so we had to ring for ambulance in the end cuz she was being sick that much and in the end she nearly died shes ok now and i also rang them for my partner he had a very bad throught could hardly breath with it and yet again we was on the phone for hours just for them to say its a sexuly transmitted deseise its purfetic cuz they dont know what there doing
