Recycling Plastic Milk bottles

If you wash them out with really hot hot water... you can then roll them up, put the screw lid back on: Thus you will have more room in your blue bag/box:

Thought you weren't supposed to put the lids in.

Re: Recycling Plastic Milk bottles

But hot water costs money. At what point does all this washing and cleaning out of the bottles make it uneconomical to recycle them?

They tell you to wash everything out. The whole idea of recycling is that it doesn't all go to the same tip. Unless you know something we don't!

So they have a separate skip up at Whinney Hill, they make collections door to door to collect them all and them throw them all in a landfill ? I don't think so somehow

Re: Recycling Plastic Milk bottles

well you wash them out otherwise they will stink... and you roll them up to make more space:

I know last year over christmas, when I went up to the tip... all the skips there were used for the same waste ( so makes you wonder )

Re: Recycling Plastic Milk bottles

i have recycled for many years before the council jumped on the bandwagon but refuse to wash/rinse anything out, i`m on a water meter so it costs ME money, anyway everything is washed and sorted when it gets to the recyling plant so no point in doing i twice.

or panic when you put lid on with the hot water inside and shake it to rinse it out and it blows up like a balloon and threatens to explode
