Re: springhill club!!
Both entwisi and Roy grew up in Spring Hill, they don't seem to have turned out so bad do they?
I know there are Many, Many more that can be given as examples of turning out as good people. If a survey was done I think it would find that the 'majority' of people either still in that area or from that area are decent people, it only needs a few rotten apples for a reputation to head down the toilet. Sweeping statements about everyone in the area are not only inaccurate but insulting to the people that you have placed under this out of focus microscope! :( |

Re: springhill club!!
I wasnt labelling eveyone from that area and appologise if i did offend, after all, i grew up there. The reason that my family moved was due to violence and also drug dealing / users. This wasnt just one or two houses on out street, there were more and more "problem" tennants appearing as time went on. I know people that still live there that wouldnt recommend moving to that area. Not calling everyone and sorry if it sonded that way but im not just going off what people have said and the reputation it has been given but I actually saw the area "decline" so to speak. I remember the days when i grew up and it was a very pleasant area to live in.

Re: springhill club!!

Re: springhill club!!
It breaks my heart to see our old drinking holes disappearing, I remember not so long ago every Friday night we starting off in the Pickup Arms then onto the Springhill club, along Blackburn Road and by the time we reached church we were rocking, had an hour with Don and Liz in the stag and then last in the cross guns for Sully (RIP) and Jeans disco. Every pub and club was heaving.
Its hard to believe all these pubs existed not so long ago and that Church was one of the best nights out around, I am just glad I was there to enjoy them and to meet all the people I did. Is it the price of ale or have social trends changed its hard to tell its not the smoking ban because most of these establishments were gone before it came into place. I think soon the only place to have a drink will be town centre bars as the good old pubs will all have gone, its a crying shame. |
