Re: Events
God, I remember that, it was awful. My mum's cousin was with him, I think, when it happened. It really scared me.

Re: Events
I was on the field when it happened, but didn't see anything, as I was at the other end at it was raining hard with the thunder, we were all terrified and they wouldn't let us go home from school until the thunder stopped I was there til 5pm, as we didn't have a car so nobody could pick me up. There were loads of us waiting in the main hall knowing that somebody had been killed and dreading having to go outside :'(

I can remember when princess Ann visited British aerospace in Preston. Hubby was working there. I didn't go see her though.

Re: Events
I remember when one of the reservoirs burst its banks in the mid to late 60s the water funneled its way down Ossy via Tinker Brook and nearly took the bridge out on Union Road at the bottom of Rhyddings street, it was only a few nights later that I witnessed, I think what they call a movement of rats, obviously upset by the on rush of water. It was about 12 midnight and I was on my way home and was talking to a mate near the war memorial, when this animal ran over our feet, followed by literally thousands and thousands of its little mates, we both ended up on the top step of the memorial scared s***less, not an experiance I ever wish to see again:eek::eek::eek:
