I notice the single decker bus in the piccy is Barnfield (returning from); The Church Kirk bus also used to come down Union St: Were there any other buses using that route that anyone can remember?

If that had have been the Church Kirk bus, then that picture would have been taken at 20 past the hour..I dunno about the time for the Barnfield bus, though.

Bus timetables are an exciting hobby, although some of my ex-girlfriends did not think so.

Eh? I don't remember that! The Blackburn bus stop (No's 9 - Express and 46 - Stopping) was the first stop immeadiatly next to the town hall...the buses went round the bus station and right down Blackburn Rd.

Unless, of course, we're going back to the 1930's.....hells bells, Cashy, you're looking well for your age.

I don't remember that but I do remember that alternate buses went either up Avenue Parade or up Burnley Road.

He's right, the Blackburn bus stop was on Union Street roughly where the Arndale entrance is now. This was before the bus station was built, so it would be pre-1962. There were sunken gardens where the Arndale is and a row of old cottages across the road where the shops are now. The Rawtenstall/Bacup bus stop was in front of the town hall and the Moscow Mill and Willows Lane bus stops were across the road.

Yeah, I know...sad...very sad.
