Yeah, that's the one. Never went in myself, as I was sure it was demolished around 1962/63. Seem to recall in a previous discussion on here, Mr C, you reckoned it was late 60's, so maybe I could've had a pint in there, after all. Another opportunity missed!

i'm near sure that is/was the australian wyn, the son of the last landlady, who by the way is still batting, lives down church, saw him in the "stag" when one of the meets was on,also saw him a couple of years ago down king st, at the rocknroll, night, was reminsing about how we used to play footy on the carpark after school n his dad always gave us a gill/pint in the kitchen after.:D and kate i'm near certain the green n cream blackburn buses used it also.;)p.s. wyn i think it may have closed about 63/64, but was then stood empty for a few years before demolishion. could be wrong but thats were i'd put me money if i had too.

Maybe you're right, Mr C, I only have a vague memory of it, anyway. The 9 and 46 were definitely joint Accrington/Blackburn Corporation services - as was the 90 (Accy - Ossy - B'burn Hospitals). Incidentally, the bus in the picture is a Leyland PD2/1, one of a batch acquired by the Corporation in 1947 and disposed of in 1961.

Right, I'll get me anorak...;)

Re: not a taxi

Wyn just to let you know that when I worked on the buses the express didn't stop to drop off passengers until West End and would only pick up (from Accrington) at Elison St, Grammer School (seperate bus stop from Stopper) Antley, Church, West end (spread Eagle St) Old Mother Red Cap then just before Intack lights. After that it was drop off only.

From Blackburn pick up at Copy Nook, Toll Bar, Intack, Old Mother and Spread Eagle then run into to town with stops at Church Antley Grammer Sch Elison St and Bus station.

Cheers for that info, Ber. Never realised (or maybe I'd just forgotten) all that malarky with dropping off and picking up.
