I knew Tony and his wife Pauline back in the Late 70´s. He worked with my dad (Dougy Jackson) at Blackburn Group Training centre - teaching the young apprentices engineering. Nice guy..... |
Re: The Deck
I remember Tom Robinson from way back, if it's the same Tom that was in a band years ago. Le Faulves. Please ask, silly name but they were ok. I think a guy called Rufus was also involved. Did a couple of gigs at Accy jaz club. Way back.

Re: The Deck
Florrie was a one and only, i dated him from being 14/17. He was a brilliant drummer and sang a mean Roll over Bethoven??. (can't spell) He was a really sweet guy

Re: The Deck
Florrie was (and I would imagine, still is) a great bloke. Remember sitting on the deck as a naive 16-year old in 1967. Florrie (along with Isaac) tipped me off to loads of great blues artists like Junior Wells, Elmore James and Albert King...people who I still like to this day. An excellent musical education!

Re: The Deck
[quote=West Ender;256519]I've just read through this thread which I had somehow missed. Going back to nearly the beginning - someone mentioned Ollie Rowley. Would this be Oliver Rowley who had a brother called John and a sister Angela? Would he now be in his 60s? If so, he went to St Marys school when I did and - well, it was a shame, poor lad! If it's the right one, he would have been in a special school today.
Do you know much about Oliver Rowley or inparticular Angela? I am a long lost relative of Angela and would quite like to get back in touch. I she still living in Ostletwissel? |

Saw Jeffrey on Friday, was the first time I have spotted in town for ages. He was sitting on the side steps of the Town Hall, a place I have never seen him before! He did NOT look wonderful by any means and does not have his lovely dog anymore.

I knew it wasn't on the "deck" but thought I'd post it up as its across the road, its pretty obvious where it is the Market Hall and Bus Station are directly behind :D
My Father is in the middle, 60s in probably right Cashman. |

Re: The Deck
Could the big lad on the left of the one in the painters boiler suit be Bill White Stanley goalkeeper I worked with Bill at Huncoat Pit and the one on the other side be Jimmy Harrower Stanley center half.
|
Re: The Deck
No sorry wrong looked again not Harrower
|
Re: The Deck
No, it's not Bill either, as I'm sure Jaysay will confirm.

Third attempt John Ryden and on the outside Terry Tighe or Charlie Sneddon

Jaysay'll be able to confirm one way or another as he's a big mate of Bill's.

Re: The Deck
Yeh may just be on a winner wi the fact some are ex Stanley players claytonx, cos most of em look familiar, Perhaps Shurm may be able to enlighten us a bit? cos i think he played fer the reds?
|
Re: The Deck
Not convinced that any of 'em ex-Stanley players. John Ryden was playing for Watford in the early 60's. The other guy doesn't look like Charlie Sneddon or Terry Tighe to me. However, I have been known to be wrong! Wonder if Shurm has any more info about who's on the shot?
|
Re: The Deck
Just thinking about the deck, I possibly had stood on there long before any of you say 1952 when local football teams meet to catch the bus to King Georges or Highams, when the bus to Clayton stopped there as it came from the Black Dog in Ossy, and I think Woolworth was still a 3d and 6d store. Dutton St had men and ladies toilets, Lingards in the market hall sold white keel German butter loose beautiful.
We also waited on the deck on a Wednesday night or Saturday night for mates to walk home to Clayton after taking some lucky girl home from the con, (you could fairly smoke some cigs waiting) and I can remember the first time the pictures opened on Sunday |
Re: The Deck
yeh certainly were on the deck before most of us, but that still don't tell us who those guys are.
