Oh i do get many "Flashbacks" when someone mentions certain things.:D Flashbacks are the Cost Of Living, or so they say.;) n its those that make em great.

It wasn't just jiving frowned on. If you were waltzing or quickstepping, the MC on the stage was watching you all. If more than your hands touched he ran down the steps, pushed his way through the dancers and literaly pulled you apart. No smooching,necking or doing anything which might exite you!

Smooching? - you need a visit from General Gordon, or better still General Booth.I bet you were the sort who whisked girls off through the back door to The Junction for a half of mild before returning and thinking you were in Paradise when you were actually in Paradise Street. If ever there was a mis-nomer, this was it.

We must have gone to a different Con Club. We jived and got pretty close during the waltzes (well, smooches). No-one ever tried to pull us apart and that was back in '56.
That was a pretty good year - steady GF, a good job, money in my pocket and an Ariel 350cc - loved tearing around Haslingden Old Rd or Grane Rd with the GF on the pillion, clinging on like a limpet.;)

We may have passed one another, I used to travel those roads on a 650 Triumph Thunderbird, in the late 50's. I used to like the bends on Hasi Old Rd, where you'd pay a pound an inch for what roads left, when you corner a bit too fast. Had to give up bike riding after I got a bullet in my left leg.

Twas def a good year 1956, the year I was born:) Can guess who the steady GF was as well;)

got me bike in 63, twas a Triumph Terrier only a small cc, had to give up after me first smash did me leg n arm, was underage at the time so had to crawl in backyard instead of hospital, only rode it around the back alleys, due to that fact n it was a particularly bad winter.:eek::D

I like the last dance the best Barrie, was called the Quacker, once round the dance floor then outside for your oats:D
