Back to the thread. What was that stick (honest) thing my Dad used on his face when he cut himself shaving?? Seemed to stop the bleeding?? :confused::confused::confused:

You know when you have a "hang-nail" - a loose bit of skin at the side of a finger nail, my aunt used to call it a "stepmother jag". Anyone else heard that? Perhaps it was an old Rishtonian saying.

nope...that's what we call them too...OK, I'm only down the road in Clayton.......but I'm sure I have heard other people use that phrase for them.
