It is what used to be the Oak Tree pub near Winfields(I think).

Good big building like that going to waste....it is a crying shame.

It is a shame but a lot of people don't want these old buildings now. Expensive to maintain and heat etc.

Sadly they don't.

The Masonic Hall in Ossy's just been put up for sale.

Can't see there being much of a market for it.

I heard on the grape vine that they are moving their operation to Ossy Social Club, how true that is I don't know

I suppose that makes economic sense.

It isn't used very often, and must have high running costs.

I'm not entirely sure that it is true that they are expensive to heat and maintain......they are solidly built, with character thrown in.
There is much that can be done to insulate these buildings...and Ok, it might be expensive at the outset but then you reap the rewards over the years.
I hate the 'knock it down and build modern' mentality.

The only real drawback to this one, is that it is on a busy main road.

I used to pass the place every day in the sixties, on my way to work at David Whitheads in Rawtenstall.
