OK quick update and question .

my pc has run a lot better since Mick has introduced me to zonealarm etc apart from when my boys been on it and dont understand how to use it which has meant ive had to reformat since .but now thats done its not too bad ,
However i am still getting system shut down every so often . Now the message i get is "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close "then shuts down after 60 secs .. Q ..!! could this be a fault with Internet Explorer? and if so is there something else i could use and if so do i need to buy special software ?

Yes there is a better browser than Internet Explorer. Download and install Firefox. Click this link to go to the download site. To be totally honest I still get occasional problems with Firefox, much less than with Internet Explorer. Firefox is also (supposedly) much more secure and less likely to be attacked by hackers than Internet Explorer. Try it, it is very similar and after a while you may prefer it like I do. A very few web sites don't work properly with Firefox and I still use Internet Explorer occasionally.

I have to agree with Neil. I much prefer Firefox to any other browser but some websites don't work equally with all browsers and some colours don't show as the website owners want them to (maybe they haven't used hex numbers) so sometimes if colours look bit dodgy I check them out in IE just to see if there's a difference.

Slight thread wander - a friend of mine on AOL reckons he hasn't got a browser.
:D

One thing I like is the way it saves where you were when you closed it off so you can go back and take up where you left off, but I'm still using Firefox most.

That's strange. It looks the same to me in IE and Firefox on my PC. What am I missing? I know my eyes are bad. :D

You probably have antialias fonts turned on in IE, it tends to smooth things out, some prefer it, some don't, I'm in the latter camp

Re: pc help needed

The only difference I get in IE and FF is the log in box where it says "user name", one is side by side and the other one has one word under the other.
