helppppppppp somebody! keeps getting ad popups and a script error thingy that keeps popping up again and again! :swear8:im really getting sick of it !!


yes I have a popup blocker (what bloody use it is) also got windows defender and AVG, also tried programs to find and get rid, but nowts working

can anyone recommend a good spyware?
do I have to wipe it all and start again? :blink8:

I don’t know if this would help but if it’s only recently you’ve been having this problem, how about trying a system restore. Go back to a known date before your had these troubles.

Dont do it yet, check with Ian first. :)

For effective security under Windows you need ALL the following

1) Firewall - I normally install the basic Zone Alarm and its fine
2) Anti Virus - AVG Free edition although people do tend to have favourites so feel free to choose another.
3) Spyware/Malware - you can't get an all in one solution for this, You need a min of 2 programs, 3 is better, Try Ad-aware, Spybot and Microsofts free one

4) The most important one!!! A brain - Don't open anything that you aren't 150% sure of. Don't install stuff that promises to make you rich, bigger, sexier or anything else beyond the realms of credibility.


One point of note - I along with lots of my techie friends absolutely hate with a vengence Norton products. They are resource hungry - tightly locked into teh core OS bloatware going. I'm sure there are loads of people who love it, teh techies tend not to be in that camp.

If you want techie help you have to tell us 'exactly' what you've done and what is happening, you need to avoid woolly descripitions so we have a chance of working out whats happening on your screens. (Remember we can't see it!!!!)

You have installed and scanned using Ad-aware?

Also install Spybot S&D

And teh microsoft one.

When you've done this, scanned teh pC and removed all teh rubbish let us know if you are still having problems

are these free ones or do i have to purchase em to get the full version, cuz ive downloaded that many to get rid of this and nowt is happening and yeh i have tried the microsoft one too.:D
