internet explorer 7?
this might have already been a topic:rolleyes: ...but has anyone already got on explorer 7?, i know its been out ages but i thought i would wait to see if there had been any problems with it:rolleyes:
would anyone recommend putting it on or staying with explorer 6? what extra does it have? dont ask me to look at microsoft web page, cuz its all gobbledygook to me:o |
Re: internet explorer 7?
I use it at work and find it better that IE6.
tabbed browsing is a good addition, like the BT own version. I also believe if you dont like it you can always go back to IE6 |
Re: internet explorer 7?
I use ie7 too no problems at all installing it and runs fine its more secure than ie6 and as MR D says has tabbed browsing which is handy

Re: internet explorer 7?
ok cheers for that will change it now :D

Re: internet explorer 7?
I didn't like it at first because all the text on websites was really tiny, now I'm used to it I quite like it even though I do have to squint at the screen to read the text lol!

Re: internet explorer 7?
get rid of it before you start to find that sites dont work properly and you cant view a lot of stuff

Re: internet explorer 7?
tinks, you can increase the text size
use CTRL and the plus(+) key |
Re: internet explorer 7?
Cheers entwisi I'll give that a try. It's actually the whole look of the websites. Another forum I go on, the message board filled the screen perfectly and the text was large enough to read comfortably but since changing to IE 7 the board has a big black border round it. It looks like it's actually part of the website but it wasn't there before. It's a bit hard to explain ...

Re: internet explorer 7?
That unfortunately is down to what is called the 'style sheet'
Crap programmers have long been getting away with poor websites, IE used to deal with their code the best(as in it seemed to display what they wanted, not what they coded), now it is starting to apply the rules far more tightly and their crap sites will show up any errors |
Re: internet explorer 7?
Ah I see
Well I suppose that's one benefit of the zoom tool on IE 7 |
Re: internet explorer 7?
Or you could just start using a decent browser
www.opera.com :D Seriously, give it a go, it won't screw up your PC or take over any links unless you tell it to. It adds lots of really nice features and if you are fortunate enough to have a brain wired like mine it just 'works' as in it does exactly what I want, when I want it e.g. a url on a webpage, shade it right click and there is a goto URL option. no cut n paste. Or shade and right click some text, right click and there is a search with tool wher you can select from a number of useful search engines/sites tabbed browsing, phishing flters, thumbnail views of all tabs, one touch keyboadr shortcuts |

Re: internet explorer 7?
Last version I used was a late beta so some features may have made it in that weren't there when I last tried it. I'm genuinely happy that those of you who do use IE have a browser that is far more secure than the old IE6. I'm also happy that web developers will now have to be far better at their jobs as this will help those of us who do use other browsers that are W3C complient.
One point about sites that 'don't work' in other browsers. Quite often these sites will actually work perfectly if you get them to report that they are IE. There is a thing called a user agent where a website can ask what browser/OS/etc you are using and then do stuff dependant on that. By 'faking' you are a IE user on XP will make these dodgy sites work in 90% of cases. Its just lazy developers again who can't be bothered to test in other cominations so they say it won't work as a cop out |
