Giani digital play pal 8"

Do you have one of these pads?
I have been given one to sort out but having problems
The login password is not reconised
So need to do a factory reset or bypass this login section
In the instructions ....yes I know men don't read them but this time I had to
It says there is a small reset button on the back near the power port/usb port
When I look there is no button so can't reset this way
Any help would be good and the person that comes up with the right answer will get a shed load of karma:)

Does it have any volume control buttons? If so you could try this -

You need to do is to follow this steps and turn off you device please hold the this button combination that will lead you to recovery menu. power + home + vol up or Power + vol up or power + vol down after this please select factory reset by pressing the plus(+) or minus(-) button then select by clicking the power button and wait to boot again after that your tablet is ready to use thank you

yes I can get to photos that was taken but cant get to the operating system

This is a reply I got to an e-mail I sent to the manufacturer's

Good morning Mr Blackledge,

Unfortunately the instruction manual has a slight error and there is no external reset button.

The only way to do a factory reset is in the settings menu.
Thanks,
Kind regards,

I`ve been told there is a small chance you might be able to flash the ROM with programs like ODIN, but obviously this is very risky and may completely knacker it if it goes wrong, so should only be used as a last resort.
Odin Tutorial: How to Use Odin to Flash ROM on Android Device - DonAndroid

I think task 4 for will be the clincher whether it will work or not because if it`s not already enabled, you can`t get into the system to enable it.

Mick Do not try GPicks second suggestion. ODIN is only for Samsung devices.

What screen do you see when you turn it on? Giani Digital 8'' Playpal 8GB HD Tablet BURY is it the screen in the picture?

Hardly any android device has one of those

On all android devices you can hold in the power button for around 10-20 seconds to power off. Only tablets I have seen to have an external reset button are those of the very cheap variety where the system tends to freeze a lot and then you had to hold in the external reset button to restart it(not even the power button would work)

Some tablets differ on how to access bootloader. On mine its

from tablet being turned off

Hold Volume Down whilst keeping hold press and hold Power button. Hold for around 5 seconds or so and let go of power button. This process differs from device to device... like Gpick said earlier...try the different combinations.

edit- On one tablet I had to hold in both up and down and power to access bootloader/recovery... if none of the others work. Sometimes you have to hold longer than 5 seconds.

There is no physical volume button? that is odd. Then there has to be an alternative method of entering recovery mode. hmmm is it the same one as that in the link i posted?

Also the reset switches tend to be those tiny holes with a button inside... you'll need a needle(if its there)

You sure Restless, you know much more about android than me i`m sure, but the guy at work has used it on LG and ASUS devices and their website says it works for all Android devices.

Not that it matters really as Mick doesn`t want to try it, and nor would I if it wasn`t mine.:)

Of course- I cannot be 100% sure.
But even your link says Samsung in it :D

So. I stopped writing this reply to research a little and yes, some have got ODIN to work with other devices. With a lot of expert tweaking(way beyond my capabilities) it appears that this is possible. But there you have it. These android developers... They have no interest in such tablets as this Giani. So very likely that ODIN is not an option.
ODIN is not the usual flashing method I am used to. It requires that you flash .bin files and such. Headache. But nice that samsung leave bootloader unlocked so you can do so!

Chinese manufactures have their own tool. I have used it before and finding the firmware for specific tablets(because there is countless combinations) is a total nightmare, however it is very similar to ODIN, in that you enter fastboot and flash the firmware with the tool.

For me it was Lesson learned. Stay away from crap cheap tablets
