Laptop

Help. I've been given a laptop, came with mouse, power pack and leads etc even had the manuals but i left them where it came from, it works fine just a slight problem - it has windows 95 on it and word 97 havent tried the rest, anyway tried putting xp on it and it wouldnt install. Someone has suggested trying windows 2000 on it. The only thing is i dont have a copy of that seeing as i have xp. Anyway would that work on it? Its a toshiba 4200. Seen one of these in action with xp on it but it wont install on mine. Oh and whats the difference between 2000 and xp? And if i did get a copy of it would i have to reinstall office and if so will office xp do or will i have to get another copy of word thats before that?

By the way as anyone been on the bbc website you can change the homepage now and customise it to what you want to see. Its only beta though at the minute

Re: Laptop

HI Jen (PS, send me a text, I've lost your number)

How much memory has the laptop got. Initial googling suggests it came with 64Meg which is no where near enough for XP , 256 is realistically the min. Likewise the min spec was a 6 gig hard disk, XP takes a min of 2.4 if you know what your doing. CPU is i believe a 500Mhz one which is enough if teh rest is up to it.

My main Q is what do you want to do with it? just browsing /email/ what?
