Re: norton

I have that problem too...I run on a pre programmed vista and the scanner of norton disrupts activities sometimes when I am wanting to place a late bid on Ebay.
Tried to get shut but the bloody thing will not go away.
I have got sufficient cover with other software....I don't need Norton...any suggestions?

Re: norton

Do the usual uninstall then go to search and do a search for Norton/semantic and delete anything that the uninstall left behind Norton is known to be very hard to get rid of

Re: norton

You might even have to go into Program files and find a folder named Norton or Semantic and delete that too but be careful in there deleting the wrong folder could give you more problems.
When i got this new Laptop it had Norton on and it was the first thing i took off

That does'nt work, it leaves traces behind in the registry.
Either use a registry cleaner, or as Mick suggests,
do a search in explorer for any thing that mentions Norton.
Dont just type Norton in the file search box put *.* in
the first line and Norton in the second, search all files in
C: then look carefully at the results.
Write down what the search finds and then look at each of those files,
delete the ones your sure of.

Norton used to be one of the best - it became a monster a few years ago.

Next you will be trying to convince us Linux is totally safe and without malware Ian.
