Angry Spoke too soon

Laptop gone again - this time power point of the laptop itself the pin has come out where the mains supply goes in.

Is that easy to do a repair yourself & get a part for it ? altho getting the back off the laptop completely is a challenge in itself or is it a expensive send away repair ???????????????

Re: Spoke too soon

It can be repaired buy someone who has a clue but you are looking at a minimum of 1.5-2 hours labour to dismantle/reassemble it

Sorry lovely, if you mean the socket that the power supply plugs into the few laptops that I have repaired for that problem, have been such a pain to unfasten and then put together again, for the few seconds it would take to do the repair, (which would cost next to nothing) just doesn't seem worth it. I think they design this fault in deliberately, to make it a throw away item!

Is it not still under guarantee Mel ?? I thought it was a new laptop if it is take it back and get it done for free.
i have seen a few laptop with this problem and seams an inherant fault with a lot of laptops .
its not a job to do yourself there will be about 40 small screws to take out and put back as less said the power point is a small job getting to it is not.

Re: Spoke too soon

I did hear of someone who was quite adept at pulling them to pieces. It does depend on teh make and Mels is a 'good' one. There is a new shop opened at teh top of peel street, I guess he won't be that busy yet so you might be able to negotiate a good hourly rate whilst he is just sitting there waiting for trade to build?
