Angry Windows welcome??

Every now and then when i switch on my computer and the windows welcome screen comes on it will suddenly freeze and stays on the welcome screen, when i reboot it sometimes does it again, and sometimes comes on as normal, can some one tell me whats up with the bloody thing!!, its only started doing it, had no problems before

there is a tool called Windows Event viewer that may help you.

do "start -> run " type "eventvwr" and press return. (no quotes btw)

There are three 'sections', System, Security and Application. click the System on and work your way through teh list, hopefully you will find something that sounds a bit iffy, post it here and we may be able to help you.

One thing that Windows is very poor at is dealing with a thing called DHCP which is where your computer 'registers' itself with your network (router). If this is running slow it can cause a freeze of up to 5 minutes on teh welcome screen.
