Where can you get long networking cables from or extensions??

And using a USB ADSL modem?
You are better with an ADSL router but you can share you internet connection from your PC to the other one. You need your PC switched on for the other one to access the internet if you are sharing. With a router either will access the internet independently

Well the main pc is on virtually all day & the other is basically for the kiddies so they dont crap up my pc:D

Try it with internet connection sharing then, there is no cost involved then :). You need a crossover cable if you are connecting 2 PC's together.

How are you going to run the cable from one PC to the other? Under the carpet? The plugs are quite big on the ends so you wont want to drill holes to thread the cable through.
