You've obviously not got kids like mine printing things willy-nilly. :)

Re: Printer

I have a HP 1210 PSC.....I bought it because I had previously had an Epson which was a pig of a thing....it would break down at the drop of a hat...and this was at a time when I needed it for course work. I vowed and declared that I would never have another Epson. My HP isn't too expensive for ink......I buy my cartidges over the internet and only buy them when they are on offer...like 2 for the price of one.....I buy HP compatibles and they have something like 3mls more ink in each cartridge.....that may not sound a lot but I find it works out well for me.

I've just been & bought 2 new ink cartridges for my printer. What a bargain £5 for the pair (1 black & 1 colour), or £8 for 2 black & 2 colour. PC Cellular on Blackburn Rd, opposite Willows Lane.

I'm looking for another cheap Epson printer at the moment, has anyone got any suggestions please?

:D

Personally I don't use a printer at home. If I have a letter or anything I print it at work (but even this is very rare). Any photos I just walk into Garth Dawsons with teh memory card, select what I want printing and go back 20 mins later. Quality pics that you won't get out of a home printer for pennies each. It really isn't worth messing about at home

IMHO I would never bother getting a home printer, you can get stuff printed far cheaper and better quality at the professionals

I hardly ever use mine either. I'm looking for another one for my Niece's though.

You should have a look in PC Cellular, they're really cheap for ink.

I've been looking around on the internet & a few local shops. The cheapest Epson is about £45/50.

Well Anne got a Epson 240 Printer for her 50th Birthday thanks to Accyweb members .
It take 4 ink cartridges so i Went for a walk down blackburn road and all the computer shops that sell them said it would be £8-£10 a set about £2 each which is a lot cheaper than the 1 cartridge for her HP which was anything upto £40

Re: Printer

One thing to note though, the printers that have expensive cartridges are because they include ths print head on the cartridge so you effectively get a 'new' printer each time you replace them. The cheaper ones have integrated heads so teh quality will degrade over time, then its new printer time.

You pays your money and takes your chioce.

As for MH, a lot of places will print letters etc for you, you really don't need a printer for teh odd one, if you do a lot then fair enough, as its once is a blue do-dah for me its not worth it.

Prices in GDs vary on what size prints you want, IIRC, 6x4s for over 100 piccys is about 7p each (Yes you can get them slightly cheaper elsewhere, this normally takes a day or two ) TBH I prefer to support my local independant camera shop who is able to advise me when I need help with something. so much so I'm waiting for my new camera, Canon EOS 400D, from GDs as opposed to going and getting one from an internet supplier, price is within £20 and I know he'll spend time with me if I need to know how to do something or if I'm making a mistake he'll explain what I'm doing wrong.

Re: Printer

I love my EOS. :) I've always loved Canons anyway.

For a good quality photo I'd get it printed by GD but I do write plenty of letters (mostly to school for various assorted reasons.) and the girls always have something they need to print out for homework so we'd be lost without one (or two)
;)
