Re: Faulty pc
go into bios settings and look under where it says cpu temp
leave it running for a few mins and keep an eye on teh temperature while you are still in the bios screen ( do not boot windows) post back your results in celicius and if possible the size of your processor like athelon 2200 for example if your starting to hit near 40%c and above then its most likely your cpu/processor not been cooled down enough and a simple cpu fan exchange may be all u need or your power supply is faulty and not getting enough power to the cpu fan to make it spin fast enough to cool down thats my thoughts anyway |
Re: Faulty pc
40 degrees C is cool even for an athlon, modern CPUs run up to 85 degrees
it could be a crack on teh motherboard, have you fitted anything new recently? Memory/gfx card etc? Unfortunately these type of problems can be a real pain to resolve and usually need swapping out of components to find the faulty one. |
Re: Faulty pc
my cpu was getting up to 65+ degrees and it would shut down (but I seem to remember setting a limit in bios)the PC would not restart until it had cooled down. I found playing vids or tunes would really heat it up....downloaded something that told me my cpu fan was 0 zero! but if yours cuts out after a few seconds?

Mine is misbehaving too now. Thought it was sorted but it's only lulled me into a false sense of security and then something else goes kaput!
