Digital camera owners

This is a must read page for digital camera owners. Very amusing stuff along wth some good ideas.

Novel uses for digital cameras
http://www.cliffshade.com/dpfwiw/novel.htm

Example one for our globetrotting Roy

jc
... a friend was visiting some eastern European country where the alphabet is strange and the pronunciation even stranger, and he couldn't pronounce the name of the street his hotel was on. So when he needed a taxi to take him back to his hotel, he showed the taxi driver the name of the street.

With a digicam, you can take a picture of your hotel and the nearest street sign, as well as any nearby landmarks, and then show those pictures to your taxi driver or to anyone you might need to get directions from, and this would be even better than just having the address on a piece of paper.

Nice one harry!  :)

after reading  about the guy with piles, & the doggy poo, thought you might like this one!

My 2 youngest boys (14 next week) are like a lot of lads their age, and amused by their bodily functions and the size of log they can produce.  ;D

They take great delight in snapping any outsize ones and displaying them for the family to see!

Not only that, one of them was particularly proud of a giant specimin recently delivered. So much so, he thought it was a hoot to use it as a background picture for their computer.

This I can assure you was swiftly removed!  ;D

Just checked out the site, couldn't believe there were so many uses for a digital camera [smiley=lol.gif]
I don't have a digital camera, but am planning on getting one fairly soon, I have absolutely no idea what to buy. My present camera is a simple point and click Olympus trip. I have always wanted a decent camera. Any advice on what to look at, and consider before buying would be most welcome. [smiley=help.gif]

Nowt wrong with point'n'click :)

What to buy?  A lot depends on what you want to do with it and what your requirements are. Different cameras lend themselves to different areas.. I know the ones for sport in daylight conditions requiering a decent zoom.  But these would be little use indoors or night pics..

On the other hand cameras for portraits and darker situations wouldn't be good for other areas..

Of course you can get a camera that does most things but then your getting ito the 800 quid ++ areas.

All depends what your thinking of doing wiht it :)

Re: Digital camera owners

I'll have to look around and see what's out there really. I don't take any specialised photos. Obviously all my piccies are special to me, family, friends etc. Like photographing places I've been to and have lots of scenery/mountain shots, which mean nothing to anyone else as there are no people on them, but I like to remember these places and views and beautiful scenery.
Found that some of the nicest most detailed shots are the ones you can buy for a couple of quid at local shops - got some great ones of Mt Blanc district in Chamonix the other year, and my photos didn't come out anything like those. :-/
