NTL versus BT
I've just switched from NTL to BT phone line when using my dial up connection for the internet. But it seems to be much slower through BT - the first couple of days I just thought it was the websites I was visiting, but it doesn't matter what time of day or website I'm on - it takes forever. Anyone else noticed problems like this when switching phone lines or internet providers? I would really like to switch to broadband but think it's a bit expensive - anyone any recommendations?

Re: NTL versus BT
Shortstuff why did you change? NTL do Broadband at £17:99 a month which i think is about the same as BT dialup
|
Re: NTL versus BT
Only changed my phone lines - I use Supanet as my internet provider - so the cost to go on line should be the same (I hope - haven't had first bill yet). Changed to BT and Sky cos I was fed up with NTL. But when/if I do decide to go onto broadband NTL is still an option. It would be nice to have anyone's opinions on other providers too.

I have to go into more detail - I've still got some bitter in the fridge that you left at Xmas. I wouldn't be a happy girl if I was presented with a bitter!

Re: NTL versus BT
Ive had BT phone line + pipex adsl broadband (576k) that ran fine... its a bit slower than my NTL 600K connection
But i think that the reason for that is because BT uses Normal line for phone lines, where as NTL use it for their phone lines but the broadband goes through the cable box and doesnt toutch the phone line at all... just goes underground and you notice the differance because it travels faster through cable than normal phone lines. |
Re: NTL versus BT

Re: NTL versus BT
I've just changed ISP to BT (still dial up) cos my 1st BT phone bill came in and it wasn't too pretty! Think I probably will go with NTL when I get my broadband connected though. I really don't use the computer enough to justify £28 a month - but thanks for the advice everyone!

Re: NTL versus BT
NTL do Broadband from £17:99 a month i think it's 150k
first month is free too |
Re: NTL versus BT
Cheers Mick - actually getting offers all the time from NTL for their broadband - hope to get it soon.

Re: NTL versus BT
I helped many people get broadband with NTL and ASDL using a BT line. The most reliable with out a doubt is NTL, although they do have their problems. NTL Currently have a 150k which they are replacing with a 300K for the same price £17.99. However BT are doing a 1mb for £28.99 @ the moment. With NTL broadband you do not need to dial you're just online when you turn on your computer which is nice and easy and no messing. BT phone lines i find are unreliable due mainly to interferance.

Re: NTL versus BT
