NTL versus BT

I've just switched from NTL to BT phone line when using my dial up connection for the internet. But it seems to be much slower through BT - the first couple of days I just thought it was the websites I was visiting, but it doesn't matter what time of day or website I'm on - it takes forever. Anyone else noticed problems like this when switching phone lines or internet providers? I would really like to switch to broadband but think it's a bit expensive - anyone any recommendations?

Re: NTL versus BT

Only changed my phone lines - I use Supanet as my internet provider - so the cost to go on line should be the same (I hope - haven't had first bill yet). Changed to BT and Sky cos I was fed up with NTL. But when/if I do decide to go onto broadband NTL is still an option. It would be nice to have anyone's opinions on other providers too.

There are a number of reasons why you cannot & will not be able to get your connections to work any faster the details of which can be found on the very good site of How Stuff Works, look under computers, peripherals then modems. It can be a little bit technical but the site is definately worth a look.

Not too fussed about going into the technical details - I'm just fed up with watching that blue bar going along the bottom of my screen. (Did you know a watched bar never moves?) I want to hit a link - and hey presto I'm there! Not have the time to make the tea, put a load of washing on & make a brew (well get a can of lager out of the fridge).

Well, you tried to make it seem like your a liberated woman but your natural tendencies got in the way, no man would have had a sentence longer than, "Get a can out of the fridge!"

I have to go into more detail - I've still got some bitter in the fridge that you left at Xmas. I wouldn't be a happy girl if I was presented with a bitter!

It's only still in the fridge because you can't be dragged away from the keyboard long enough to bring it round for me.
