I have freeview on the computer, with Windows Media Centre. I can see a list of frequencies that are available. There are some frequencies around 500Mhz and some around 780Mhz. If I tune into the 500Mhz signals my picture quality always breaks up and sticks, but in the 780MHZ range the quality is perfect.

Some freeview boxes give you an option to move the channels around. Your box may have picked up the 500Mhz range and put that on the number 3 slot. You may find that the 780Mhz range has been stored elsewhere.

Some freeview boxes don't have this option at all, so they are useless in this area.
We have a 7" silverline tv in the kitchen (bought from Lidl a few years ago) this picks up the weak signals but stores the better ones further down the channel list, I swapped the channels around and have perfect picture quality.
We have a durabrand (from Asda) freeview box that has no option to change the channels around, making this box rubbish and not used.
My parents have an Asda Hdd freeview box that picked all the better channels and put them in the proper place, so this is a good one.

I think it's a bit hit and miss with the freeview boxes, so I would recommend asking what other people are using and if the boxes work. I also don't think paying more money for a box will make it better, it's all in the software. Some cheap ones work ok, some don't. same with the dearer ones.

I bought a scart attachement that picks up Freeview signals. I chose this option because it is neat and out of sight, with just the Infra-red thingy for the remote control visible on the front of the set. ITV pictures are perfect, and this is with just a portable aerial.....not connected to my roof aerial.

So can you get ITV for example on more than 1 frequency?

If you you must be picking it up from a repeater.

i renewed my ariel & coax with digital ones 12months before we changed over ...no problems here.
