ITV On Freeview

Does anyone have problems with ITV channels breaking up on Freeview ? AT times it's horrendous, yet BBC and other channels are fine :(

Maybe they moved the channels to a different frequency that your aerial struggles with. Do you have the correct aerial up?

Yep it's a TV aerial :D

Why should it need a different one if it worked okay before switch over ?

Re: ITV On Freeview

Because TV aerials are banded for the area they are used in. Digital TV uses more of the available frequencies so ITV could not be outside the original band so you could receive a weaker signal.

The aerials are 'tuned' for the specific band so they receive the strongest signals for the programmes for your area. Its all to do with the length of the receiving element on the aerial being the correct length for the wavelength of the signal you want to receive.

I could be wrong as I often am :)

Not ignoring you but just come back on-line, my Mum has terrible problems with reception even on free view but I assumed it was because of where she lives. Seems that is not the case as my thoughts were that as she lives in a low lying area could be the cause. Seems as you live a lot higher up that theory goes out the window:rolleyes:

we can't get a freeview signal at all here. When we moved in 11 years ago I rang NTL(as it was then) and asked if they would put cable on teh estate( teh cable runs along teh main road I believe) as they would easily get 20-30 people to sign up as teh terrestrial signal was always dire but they wouldn't so we have teh choice of Sky or now freesat only...

There is a small fill in repeater on a stick on Royds Ave so Woodnook can get TV signals. Its been there for years. I am surprised they did not do something similar for you - you pay your licence fee after all.
