Re: my own forum

you need a host that supports MySQL and PHP

you could keep an eye on 110Mb.com, they open up for registrations every so often.

Re: my own forum

so, may I ask, if your "not good on computers" why do you think you will be good at running a web forum? I really can never understand why people do stuff like this. Do you even know what php/MySQL is? How are you expecting to do anything serious with this?

Because running a forum is now incredably easy. I had one going well a few years ago with no knowledge of MySql or php. There are plenty of cut and paste mods and hacks out there and most people are happy with those.

Also remember not everyone is not looking for something "serious" and that by doing things like these are how a lot of people start to learn about the mechanics behind the GUI.

Re: my own forum

There is a difference between not knowing what mysql etc is and being "not good on computers".

I know plenty of people who are half decent on computers who wouldn't know teh technical aspects of something and for these sort of people they could probably muddle through applying cut n shut mods. Someone who openly admits to not being good on computers suggests that they should concentrate on getting better before they approach forum management

Re: my own forum

Doesn't that depend on what the person actually means by 'not good on computers'? I know someone who has used that or a similar phrase to describe himself but for a while ran a successful message forum, with customisation, and whilst the reason for the forum remained valid the forum remained active and extremely popular. Now alas, it is no longer required as the subject it was created for no longer exists.
