ringtones and bluetooth and mp3 stuff type question

Busman has this thing on his phone which screams "Message, Message, Message, Message, Message, Message, AAAAAAAAAAArghhhhhhhhhh!" at him when he has an incoming message.

He bluetoothed it across to my phone and it's sitting in my settings as a "sound" but refuses to let me use it as an incoming message alert. Apparently I can only use MP3s as message alerts and this isn't. It's an AMR and my phone didn't even put it in "music" where the other bluetoothed ringtones land up. It bunged it in "sounds"

It's not as if other people don't use it as an incoming message alert, so my question is, how do I convert it to being an MP3 so that I can use it too. I could bluetooth is across to my PC from Busman's phone (it won't let me bluetooth it from my phone) but have no idea if there is anyway I can change it once I get it there.

Willow, can you select different sounds for messages on your phone. It might be that your phone can only have the original sounds for messages.
Both those sentances mean the same thing, I think it's time for more coffee

You'll need to do teh conversion on the PC and then b/t it back to the phone.If you can't get it on the PC, send it to me via MMS and aI'll convert it for you and send it back.

My flippin phone is now becoming even more annoying because although I have got certain things supposed to make certain sounds when certain things happen (ie incoming call, incoming message) all I'm getting is a vibration and you can't hear a vibration! I don't have pockets today so I need to be able to actually hear the actual thing because it will not be about my person.

I've got it set in the settings to ply the tunes but it won't. It's only vibrating!

well anne has it on her phone and is on 02 but its a Nokia but i can get her to send it to you and see if that works

I've actually got it on my phone. It's there and I can make my phone play it to me. What I can't get my phone to do is play anything when I get a call or a message
