Re: Rovers standard of play

Well lads we played well against Fulham, the cruncher comes on Saturday against Leicester. Can just see it now Marcus Bent scores against us and it was Souness that sold him.

AnthonyS 14-04-2004 22:08

Re: Rovers standard of play

It wouldnt be the first time! We should be used to selling strikers who score goals for other teams every week.

AccyStanFan 15-04-2004 19:31

Re: Rovers standard of play

im not bothered who goes down between leeds and rovers, dont particurlary like either of em

walrus 15-04-2004 21:13

Re: Rovers standard of play

great result monday night.just need to keep the fight going cos we're dreadful at home, although after seeing leicester's woeful display against fulham on saturday i reckon we should at least get a point.

AnthonyS 15-04-2004 22:29

Re: Rovers standard of play

Im expecting at least 3 points. Must win game. Harder games to come.

Mik Dickinson 16-04-2004 07:59

Re: Rovers standard of play

1 point is not interesting. We need 3 points, better said we have to win the next 3 games under our own steam. To be honest there is a good squad of players there but Souness is not really looking at youth. We have too many old players in the squad that will be phased out in the next couple of years

Tealeaf 16-04-2004 08:16

Re: Rovers standard of play

They should be phased out now, along with that clown Souness.

Mik Dickinson 16-04-2004 10:28

Re: Rovers standard of play

Hey Tealeaf do not be so radical.Take your time and do the job properly

Tealeaf 16-04-2004 10:31

Re: Rovers standard of play

I did do.....there's a lot of measured thought gone into that posting.....where you been the last few weeks, anyway?

Mik Dickinson 16-04-2004 10:33

Re: Rovers standard of play

Well Tealeaf having a job and a family well tah knows it takes up a lotta time.Plus i have been on courses from work

Tealeaf 16-04-2004 10:41

Re: Rovers standard of play

Aye, courses from work.....that's always a good excuse...It's just a shame Souness never went on an "Anger Management Course" or even "How to be a Football Manager"

AnthonyS 16-04-2004 21:47

Re: Rovers standard of play

I see what you mean about youth. Look at defence. Amoruso and short. By the way. Does anyone think Amoruso is as good as he is supposed to be. I think he belongs in div 2 with the way he keeps booting ball upfield. Hit'n'hope I call it!

walrus 16-04-2004 21:57

Re: Rovers standard of play

amorruso should go back chilly jockoland 'cos he's crap. short when he's played has done well. old but knows what it's about

Mik Dickinson 16-04-2004 22:09

Re: Rovers standard of play

Aye it would seem that Souness is paying back his old club Rangers. No way is Amaruso a Premiereship player

walrus 16-04-2004 22:16

Let's Hope Souness And His Legion Of S*** Follow Him Out Of The Club.
Souness For Rangers

AnthonyS 17-04-2004 13:30

Should have kept martin taylor! He would have been more suitable for our defence.

colin hendry would of lol

booth76 17-04-2004 17:36

Two wins on the trot, and Man City had a bad loss today. Let's hope they can keep up a run of decent results to keep them up!

AnthonyS 17-04-2004 17:38

Re: Rovers standard of play

Yes please. Keep it up boys! Shame it was own goal though.

booth76 17-04-2004 17:42

Re: Rovers standard of play

I know it sounds bad but I really couldn't give a monkeys whether it was an own goal or not. Any goal will do in this position, hand of god, bouncing in off someones ****, freak gales, anything.:D

Bagpuss 17-04-2004 18:41

Re: Rovers standard of play

Come on Anthony I would take an own goal every week or even a very dodgy penalty, watch the highlights from Anfield tonight.

Bazf 17-04-2004 19:12

Re: Rovers standard of play

Just watched the game, stayed away from the results and it wasnt worth it! Start another thread Liverpools standard of play.:emotion-9 :emotion-9

AnthonyS 17-04-2004 23:18

Re: Rovers standard of play

True. At least it was a win. Man City looking in more trouble now though!

Bazf 18-04-2004 00:43

Re: Rovers standard of play

They might survive as Leeds are pretty bad and being skint going down may help in the long run. Leeds will still get over 25,000 a week in div1.

Mik Dickinson 18-04-2004 07:42

Re: Rovers standard of play

Must agree with you there Booth76

AnthonyS 18-04-2004 08:31

Re: Rovers standard of play

I think Leeds will stay up and Man City will go down. According to recent displays anyway!

Mik Dickinson 18-04-2004 13:59

Re: Rovers standard of play

Anthony that could be totally poss.Leeds are showing some true grit.

AnthonyS 18-04-2004 15:45

Re: Rovers standard of play

As far as I'm concerned, I think Leeds should stay up. They deserve it. With quality players like Smith, Robinson and Viduka they should be playing Premiership football next season. They need the money as well and div 1 does NOT pay out enough to keep them going.

Bagpuss 18-04-2004 19:11

Re: Rovers standard of play

After what you did to me in the arcade at Kick Ups I hope Rovers go down, nothing personel of course Anthony.

AnthonyS 18-04-2004 19:31

AnthonyS 18-04-2004 22:22

Re: Rovers standard of play

i agree. but he has made a couple of good buys in his time. look at friedel and stead.

Tealeaf 21-04-2004 08:28

Re: Rovers standard of play

Between 7 and 8 O'Clock last night, I heard a story in several locations, that Claudio Ranieri was lined up to take over from Souness....after 10, I did'nt hear the story again.

AnthonyS 21-04-2004 10:03

Re: Rovers standard of play

:rofl38:  Ha HA HA. Dont make me laugh so hard. Ranieri going from Multi-million, Champs League semi-finalist Chelsea to Relegation dodgers Blackburn Rovers.

Tealeaf 21-04-2004 10:13

Re: Rovers standard of play

I know - it's fun, ain't it. Here's a guy who can spend whatever he wants on players and ends up with nowt.....to go 3-1 down to a 10-man team takes some beating (excuse the pun).....I really don't know who's the biggest joker, Ranieri or Souness.

AnthonyS 21-04-2004 20:38

Re: Rovers standard of play

I think Ranieri did it on purpose. His jobs never gonna be safe at chelsea so maybe hes wanting to be sacked. Even if he is he can go to almost any other club. Just hope he goes back to Italy. Although I do find his English interviews funny.

As for souness, I dont think he has any excuse. I'll stick by him till end of season anyway.

Bazf 21-04-2004 20:44

Re: Rovers standard of play

:rose8: I would take Ranieri over Houlier any day.

Bagpuss 21-04-2004 20:54

Re: Rovers standard of play

I wouldn't have any of them I'd do the job myself first.

Bazf 22-04-2004 00:00

Re: Rovers standard of play

:rose8: You would prob do a better job Gerald.

AnthonyS 22-04-2004 08:01

Re: Rovers standard of play

I agree. Id do it for there wages. Get paid £*,*** per week to tell 11 men how to win a game. Easy. Score more goals than the opposition.

AnthonyS 24-04-2004 22:08

Re: Rovers standard of play

Well done rovers
:wave8:

Three wins in a row. Keep it up. Only Utd next.

Mik Dickinson 25-04-2004 07:32

Re: Rovers standard of play

Stead has taken to the Premiereship like a duck to water.Hope Sven has been watching his latest form.If he stays free from injury there could be a new partner for Owen in the making here.

A good victory on your behalf. I wasnt expecting you to beat them. I believe we do have a chance now. Man Utd not playing at there best. Maybe we will get backlash?

Mik Dickinson 25-04-2004 11:21

Re: Rovers standard of play

Well we definately need the 3 points

booth76 25-04-2004 15:58

Re: Rovers standard of play

I reckon Rovers are safe now and it's between Leeds and Man City for relegation. Still beating Man Utd would make a great end to the season!

Mik Dickinson 25-04-2004 17:05

Re: Rovers standard of play

Its always a pleasure to beat them

simon 25-04-2004 22:35

Re: Rovers standard of play

Strange!!!! isn't it funny how rovers have survived relagation with the help of a DIV 3 striker who could not score against the mighty Accrington Stanley:)

Shows there is not much other than money and hair does between the divisions ;)

Mik Dickinson 26-04-2004 06:52

Re: Rovers standard of play

I am sure that the staff at Rovers realised the potential that Stead showed and it goes to show how good the Stanley defense is

AnthonyS 26-04-2004 07:57

Re: Rovers standard of play

In any case i think hes the buy of the season in the premiership! Good choice souness.

Mik Dickinson 26-04-2004 08:48

Re: Rovers standard of play

Lets hope he can fid someone as good for the defence now.The lads at the moment in midfield and the defence are getting on in years

AnthonyS 26-04-2004 20:34

Re: Rovers standard of play

I dont think the midfield is too bad. Thompson, Ferguson, Tugay, Reid, , Fitcroft, Emerton and possibly Andresen. Not bad in my books anyway. Defence is main problem. Need a big signing there I think. Short's been a good asset to the club but surely he cant go for much longer. Amoruso is a mystery though. From what I've seen, he should be playing in division 2, but the media love him. He got man of the match on Saturday against Everton.

Bagpuss 26-04-2004 20:42

Re: Rovers standard of play

I know my club will be signing a new central defender this summer so who knows you may get Henchoz back?

Note that Amoruso was carrying an injury earlier in the season and was also used to being in a division where he could drift a lot more without being caught out.

For me we do need a good quick central defender, and a left sided winger. Another striker would be nice too as Yorke is going to go, and I don't think that Jansen will ever be his old self. I'd love em' to get Sutton back from Celtic.

AnthonyS 26-04-2004 21:56

Re: Rovers standard of play

Dont think weve got a chance of getting Sutton back. Hes just signed a new contract. I dont think henchoz will add anything to our defence. Ive never thought he was any good anyway.

Tealeaf 27-04-2004 12:55

Re: Rovers standard of play

Whats the betting Stead is sold by Souness for £12m over the close season?

simon 27-04-2004 12:58

Re: Rovers standard of play

Selling your best assets is not good management... Ask ferguson about beckham :):):)

Dont think souness is that daft but someone else at the club might be :):)

Tealeaf 27-04-2004 15:18

Re: Rovers standard of play

Beckham was only a financial asset....and now he's rapidly depreciated....as a player he was a loss incurring liability...Ferguson should be congratulated on pulling off the biggest sales scam since London Bridge was sold to the Yanks...the yellow-livered spanish don't want him anymore because he's done nowt in Madrid, ..maybe Abromavich will pull a few bob out of his petty cash tin for him..that's it.

I don't think anyone would be likely to splash out on Stead just yet tealeaf

AnthonyS 27-04-2004 22:03

Re: Rovers standard of play

What u mean becks aint done nothing in madrid. Hes making them loads of dosh££££! They are even filming him ASLEEP!!!!!!!!

And as for selling best assetts, rovers sold Duff at the end of last season! Look where thats got us. Dont think we'll make the same mistake in two seasons on the trot!

Mik Dickinson 28-04-2004 07:00

Re: Rovers standard of play

well after all the Malarky with Beckhams private life i have heard he is now going to Sue,............... then Melissa, Rebecca, Andrea,Roberta and so on.

AnthonyS 28-04-2004 07:26

Lol. I've not heard that before.

Re: Rovers standard of play

Well. a few weeks ago we struggled playing against the likes of leeds and portsmouth, yet we can BEAT MAN UTD. Well done lads. We ain't going down now. I'm going out now to celebrate a glorious season. Game Over!

Bagpuss 01-05-2004 19:05

Re: Rovers standard of play

I will congratulate any team that beats Man U no matter what team Utd put out.

Mik Dickinson 01-05-2004 20:19

Re: Rovers standard of play

Tha can say wot that wants.Jon Stead has the makings of another Shearer. He just has the sniffer for where the goals are gonna happen

AnthonyS 01-05-2004 23:25

Re: Rovers standard of play

He'd better stay then. Dont want him doing what shearer did!!!!!

Mik Dickinson 02-05-2004 06:16

Re: Rovers standard of play

Oh1 sorry anthony i would want him to do what Shearer did.Shearer and Sutton both played a major part in Rovers becoming Champions in 1995.Maybe Matt Jansen can link up with Stead as i rate both players very highly and the are still young

AnthonyS 02-05-2004 08:46

Re: Rovers standard of play

I did rate Jansen before his accident, but he's not done anything special since. I hope he does form a good partnership with him, but I think Gallagher has more of a choice. He did well when he set Stead up for the goal yesterday. Even Cole has worked well with him.

AnthonyS 09-05-2004 13:04

Re: Rovers standard of play

Oh well. Our winning streak had to come to an end. And no surprise, Enkelman in the goals instead of friedel. Friedel is our rock.

Mik Dickinson 09-05-2004 15:07

Re: Rovers standard of play

Well anthony there is no taking away the fact that Friedel is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premiereship. However i would say that the defence feels safer when he is in the goals

AnthonyS 10-05-2004 07:59

Re: Rovers standard of play

I truely believe that we will really stuggle once friedel has to retire. How are we going to ever replace him?

slater_scott 03-06-2004 15:21

Re: Rovers standard of play

We should be back stronger next season hopefully, with a full team.

Mik Dickinson 04-06-2004 15:02

Re: Rovers standard of play

Anthony S.Kahn wants to move to a club outside of Germany. His days at Bryan Münich are over.Get in touch with Graeme Souness for me and i do hope we will be back stronger next season as if we get any weaker we will be in the 1st Division

AnthonyS 05-06-2004 09:24

Re: Rovers standard of play

Kahn is too good a signing for us. We usually buy unknown players who turn out to be really bad, or standard players with no real class. Thats the way Bburn R work.

Mik Dickinson 27-06-2004 19:48

Re: Rovers standard of play

Well i do not really rate Kahn as he has fumbled in critical situations as we all saw against Brazil

Smiffy16 27-06-2004 20:06

Re: Rovers standard of play

Too old......

Mik Dickinson 28-06-2004 08:48

Most keepers are when you think about it.Look how old Shilton was before he finally gave it up

slater_scott 28-06-2004 10:10

Re: Rovers standard of play

who need kahn when you have friedel

AnthonyS 30-06-2004 20:09

Re: Rovers standard of play

Friedels only got a few years left in him. We need to look for a new young keeper. Not Enkelmann!!!!!!!

Mik Dickinson 30-06-2004 21:02

Re: Rovers standard of play

Not look we should be nurturing our youth through.Home grown talent is always the best.Thta is where loyalties and money is made.
