Sol Campbell says verbal abuse towards footballers and managers has spiralled out of control and it is time for the authorities to start taking action.

Do you think Sol is over reacting to a bit of banter or has it gone to far?
Personally I agree with the callers to Jeremy Vine's phone-in who made the point that to earn respect the footballers should actually show a little. A footballer has never abused a referee or reacted to a crowd and hurled abuse back, has he?

what about back in the 70's and 80's when the first black footballers were comin onto the scene and gettin banana's thrown at them and monkey chants from their own fans? i think he needs to ahve a few chats with the likes of barnes and co...
