Personally I agree with the callers to Jeremy Vine's phone-in who made the point that to earn respect the footballers should actually show a little. A footballer has never abused a referee or reacted to a crowd and hurled abuse back, has he?

its totally stupid - i mean if he thinks he's got it tough
what about back in the 70's and 80's when the first black footballers were comin onto the scene and gettin banana's thrown at them and monkey chants from their own fans? i think he needs to ahve a few chats with the likes of barnes and co...

sol campbell is a ponce why dont he try doing his talking on the football field.what next ? hello the person on the left of the goal could you please keep your voice down you are upsetting mr sol campbell whos just grogged about 6feet away from you.no chance .people will do anything to get in the papers theses days to feed their egogostic tendancies .i hate all premiership footballers they just get above their station.all they are are average footballers who got lucky[if your face fits]prats the lot of them.over paid prats
