Shearer was never gonna take the job, even if it was offered - why on earth would he give up all that lovely money he earns from his cushy commentating job to take on the stress of management - they lad's not daft.

Probably just keeping his options open in case the commentating jobs dry up, or maybe he just doesn't feel ready to manage a team yet, or maybe managing Blackburn is not the start he wants in management - who knows?

In front of millions of viewers the other day Shearer stated that he would not be taking the Rovers job. He also stated that he was highly flattered to be considered but now was not the time.

If it turns out that this was just a smoke screen and he ends up as the next Rovers manager what would that say about him?
